I just finished up Resident Evil 5 (I have played all of them), and I'm starting to wonder what games in the series other people liked. Some people consider RE1 to be a classic while others consider it to be really awful. So, I was wondering, which game was your favorite?

Resident Evil 1 remake is by far the best one... Great atmosphere, quite frightening and good graphics :) plus the voice acting isn't completely terrible!

I actually quite liked 3. It was the most functional in terms of controls and let you do moves that I would consider logical, like pushing a zombie away before it bites you.

Code Veronica!

First one I ever played, also had it for the dreamcast. Scared me pretty good.

I haven't played one I liked other than that though. This includes 2, 4, 5 and the online one that I can't remember the name of..

Of the ones I've attempted to play, 4 was...the least bad. The earlier ones were absolutely unplayable, in my opinion. 4 fixed a lot of stuff and was at least pretty well put together, and I really wanted to like it and finish it, but the controls just make me angry, and I gave up about halfway through. Less so than in the first one, but I still just can't deal with it.

5. It's the only one I have played, and I LOVED IT.

Sure, It wasn't scary at all, but it was a blast!

3. The nemesis is awesome! It had QTE's that worked and changed the game slightly.

The merc mode was really fun aswell, although it was only REALLY completable by one guy 'cos the others were kind of under armed.

For anybody who hasn't played merc mode, you were implanted with a bomb and you had to get from point A to point B to disarm it, simple, right? NO! there was limited ammo, shit load of zobnies and the occasional nemesis (which you never actually had to fight but it didn't half shit you up when you ran across him) and it wasn't one of these finish with more time than you started, I think the best I did was 10 seconds to spare.

Played them all but 5.

Liked 2 the most, best storyline and most creepy. I remember playing through it start to finish over a couple of days while at my Mum's place and she watched the whole game through, something that she had never done before (or since as far as I know). It had that feeling of really needing to know what happened next.

2 was my first and favorite. The controls sucked and so did the game in hindsight, but it scared the shit out of me when I first played it.

number 4...
Only one I ever played the whole way through.
I had a lend of number 1 or 2(Can't remember which) and I hated it... I remember giving up before I even met any zombies

4 has the best controls and atmosphere imo. I loved it so much. Even though it was greater part action than horror, it was the best re game.

Easily Resident Evil 4. The game is so glorious, even its quick-time events lack tedium.

What's funny is that if Capcom had any balls, #5 would be my favorite. It was looking to be a single player romp through infected Africa with a hulked out Chris Redfield Falcon Punching bitches left and right. It was looking badass.

Then people cried "racism."

Now Capcom, fearing allogations of racism, gives you a partner, Sheva, whose AI is derrived from what I can only imagine is the first scrapped piece of code of squadmate AI from the first Rainbow Six. "We're totally not being racist, so to prove it, we'll give you an African partner who's only slightly less combat ready than Kevlar-clad dogshit."

It's also pretty funny seeing all the Asian residents of Bumfuck, Africa attack you with redneck looking white guys following in suit, because when I think second-world villages in Africa, I think of the well-established Asian population.

Granted, I'm not terribly offended by the races of the infected themselves, but rather how it reminds me of Capcom's lack of collective testicular fortitude.

Res 2 is the best in my opinion. Playing both characters storyline, bonus extra games at the end and some of the most badass monsters in the franchise(Lickers, T-00, Birkin and so on)
