Gladii are obscure?

For purposes of the poll, I have to say kusarigama, if only because they're awesome-looking and I almost bought one in Japan.

Gotta admit, though, while I do like kama, katar, and zweihanders, I'm really a sucker for polearms.

Especially these ones. I'm also rather fond of the similar <url=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/76/Polish_scythemen_1863.PNG>polish war scythe, the halberd, the ashandarei (a cookie for anyone who gets that), the guisarme, the lochaber axe, the shortspear, the <url=http://therionarms.com/armor/polearm2.jpg>bill (for sheer WTFery)...

Tell you what, if it's mentioned <url=http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0136.html>here, chances are I'll like it.

Special mention to the Silence Glaive.

Impractical, but I want one. I also wouldn't object to other [http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_MS-P2ULiBes/RwpW29yAevI/AAAAAAAAAd4/7buW8TO_3Kg/s400/gae_bulg.jpg] fictional [http://pic.yupoo.com/tansapple/043275189d6a/rp8q4fib.jpg] spears (shoot, Google image search of Gae Dearg turns up empty).

The Chinese repeating crossbow. It wasn't invented in medieval times but it sure was used.

They used them against the Japanese during WW2 if my memory serves me right.

Spring loaded knives are pretty modern. The Spetsnaz use them.
They were invented long before that. Read the link I have for it (you need to scroll down past sword-breaker) though I suppose that makes them a bit less obscure.

the famous english billhook, like a short spear with a hooked head;
used to slice through the unwieldy scottish pikes and pull french knights from their horses to the ground where they could be easily dispatched.

No, thus why I said if you choose it you ARE unoriginal.

EDIT: Well not be mean, just it's not obscure nor is it medieval.
Not to be rude, myself, but...if it's neither obscure nor medieval, why is it even in a poll relating to obscure medieval weapons?

I voted Sword-Breaker, cus it's pretty sweet.

My favourite, however, would either be a scythe, or one of those Germanic swords that are slightly wavy

Landsknecht sword, I remembered the name

Katars are also the shit.
Dual-wield those suckers!
That's what they're called; I couldn't recall and didn't want to google it.

But it's not every day you meet someone that knows what an atlatl is. Although I'm more of a macana man myself.

But I can't find a decent picture to do the obsidian bladed glorified cricket bat justice.

Simple enough, there are people who simply have no interest in obscure/medieval weapons so I tried to find a default those sorts of people would lean towards.

EDIT: And because I dislike "I don't like this pole" options.

Without a doubt, the chain whip. Specifically the jiujiebian, the nine-sectioned chain whip. I saw it on TV a while ago, thing can do some major damage.
