I'm going with the Dragon Ball Z Boudaki series. Though I got it as a huge fan of the series, it was still a great fighting game and just plain fun to play. I still love popping it into my PS2 and annihilating my enemies with Vegeta's Big Bang Attack.
Following that probably Marvel vs. Capcom. Can't wait for 3.

Clay Fighter bitchezz!!!

Seriously I'd have to say SC. It won me over with 2 on the Gamecube.

Does NO ONE respect budokai tenkaichi?! DBZ fighting games (some, not all. most were shit) were the best stuff out there! was different and had wicked finishers and super moves that made it so when you pulled them off, you could set the controller down, look at your opponent, and watch him squirm.
Also, great source material. one of the better anime/manga to game transitions.

Super Smash Brothers Melee, has a lot more to offer than your basic fighting game. However, I'm going to pick Tekken 6 since that's the second most interesting and I hate choosing other.

BlazBlue Calamity Trigger and BlazBlue Continuum Shift are easily the best two I've ever played.
Honestly, I have to say the same, and I've played a lot of the others. First off, it actually has a story beyond "I hosted a Tournament (to take over the world?)... It's f*cking foolproof!" or "Ancient McGruffin of ULTIMATE POWAH!" (though it does include time travel, so YMMV). Second, the characters all completely different, not just from each other, but from most fighting characters in general. And lastly, the fights look amazing no matter what, if only because the attacks are over the top.

High five to a fellow Hakumen player, one of the most bad ass characters ever.

I've dabbled only briefly with Johnny and after reading about his potential, I have been meaning to tear myself away from Chipp and Baiken for a while and practice some Jam, Johnny and possibly Slayer. I play ky and SOL for fun sometimes but I find ky a bit stiff sometimes. I always play at least 3 characters, Chipp (my main), Millia and Baiken as secondaries, in every fighter I play. Ragna and Jin are my secondaries in BB with Nu sometimes if i just wanna be a cheap dick.

And what platform is Jojo on?

I find it interesting that the actual major competitive titles on this poll aren't the highest on here.

Also, the lack of Melty Blood on the poll makes me sad...that game was fun as hell..though I can't play it anymore because of...specific reasons >_>...

More love for Melty Blood!!

I've been meaning to try Melty Blood, it looks fun if not a little bland looking in the visuals. Although i am reluctant to play it because it's on the PC and the D-pad on my game controller is of Xbox 360 quality....meaning it SUCKS. Seriously my play suffers so much when i try and play Guilty Gear XX Reload or Blazblue CS (downlaoded arcade version).

No BlazBlue, or Smash? Your poll has failed. It's bad and you should feel bad.

Street Fighter for me. I love the competitive nature of it, and the easy to learn hard to master aspect of it

And also, I need to post this up cause its always a fun thing to do in fighting game topics =D
THIS PIC IS SO MUCH WIN!!! You have made my day!

But, my favs are Guilty Gear XX AC, Blazblue CS, Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Super Street Fighter 4, Vampire savior (Darkstalkers 3), Hokuto no Ken, Marvel vs Capcom 2 and... you get the idea.

*High Five*
He is just so awesome.
And the fact that one of his Alternate Colors makes him look like Zero from MM ZERO is even better.

Lol, i love Johnny, im not good at memorizing long combo lists, and in GG for most characters thats a must, Johnny always just clicked, plus his Coins are an awesome tool.
I play as Baiken as well, i love her so much, especially after finding out she was based off of Himura Kenshin.
:p
Chipp, Ky, and Faust are the other characters i Main in GG.

Iv only gotten to play BB in my local arcade, and Haku-Men in who i use every time.
Id love to try and play as a few others but i never have the time.
And what platform is Jojo on?
The only console version is on the Dreamcast.
JoJo BA:HftF is a updated Arcade only version that added a few more characters.
And then they recently released it on the PsP in Japan with more characters and new features.
So MAME is probably the only way to play it without importing or finding a Dreamcast.

I played it with one of 360 SF4 fightpads and it turned out fine, though I don't know about the true 360 ones(haven't tried them), but it is a fun game to try out, lots of unique characters(some are just seperate variants though), 30+ custom colors for each character, and story mode is fun and is actually somewhat meaningful.

Though I suggest not delving too deep into the series though, I did, and while I did love Tsukihime and it's story, from now on I can't play one of my favourite characters because..
I can't stop imagining her getting nailed in the butt...at least I think it was the butt....well at least the ending was good

Jojo on the PSP!? aw it's japan only....and I hate trying to navigate through menus I don't know how to read, might just emulate it then.

You don't need long ass combos in GG really, if anything it's a double edged sword to pull off long combos. Damage scaling makes it so long combos don't give much of a significant damage increase compared to the shorter more damaging ones, BUT they allow you to built up tension quick. The plus side to that is if you're good enough, you can rapid cancel and reset the damage per say. But I hardly have bother with combos that exceed 10 hits because after that it just seems negligible.

I love Baiken because counter based fighters are fucking deadly if you get them down right, hence why some of my favorite fighters are Baiken, Hakumen (his counters are a little tough) and EX Death (the king of counters). She can fuck up opponents if you use her coutner seals right.

Yea i have the logitec dual action controller.....and that things D-pad is a massive pile of fail. It's great for playing tons of other games but fighting games it is not. I'll still look into trying it though, I just hope it is TOO combo intensive because that would be a real chore with my controller.

Your lack of Guilty Gear disturbs me. That is the best fighting game series hands down, it's essentially Street Fighter on crack and cranked up to 11. SO much depth, such amazing combat, kick ass characters and music, it's a massive bundle of AWESOME.

It trumps every other 2D fighter in my opinion.
Quoted for Truth. The music is amazing particularily. My one point of contention with your post is I prefer XX.

As much as I love Street Fighter and Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom, Tekken is and has always been the best to me.

Do you have that game? If so, what version is it?
