Assassins Creed: Brotherhood. Phenomenal game, really. And the multiplayer is unlike any other. That or SMG2, which was definitely worth every penny only an hour in.

I've gone for Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. The story i really like, although thats simply because it's more Ezio and i have a massive man-crush on him.

But the bit i really like was just how good the multiplayer is. Granted half the time you feel like the people that just assassinated you were cheap, but then it makes it all the more sweeter when you murder them and get 1000+ points on it. That and it's the most original multiplayer i've played in a few years.

Yes the servers can be a bag of arse sometimes, but a small price to pay for having an original multiplayer, linked with a good story and great gameplay single player.

for me it was between halo: reach-around and call of duty: black poo purely because both games exceeded my expectations greatly (as shown by the gay names) but i went with halo: reach because i made an iron man spartan :D

Blaaaaack Ops!! New Vegas was great but it had too many little issues to work for me.

My vote goes to Mass Effect 2. Its got more than a few problems, but its better than any other game i've played that came out this year. My runner-up would be New Vegas.

If ME2 doesn't win a plethora of GOTY awards then there's something seriously wrong. Yeah it might not be everyone's cup of tea (although it gets my nod); but if you look at all the critical acclaim it has receive, since January I might add, it's a no-brainer.

If only all this acclaim could free Bioware from the shackles of EA. I almost feel dirty when I see the EA logo come up at the start of ME2.

ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead.

I called 2009 the worst year for games that I had ever seen before I realised that I have bought a sum-total of four games made in 2009, two of them in their release weeks, and only a single one this year - the aforementioned A2: OA. What a terrible, terrible year.
I woudl say 2010 has been the worst year for videogaming ever.
Because 1983 has already been forgotten? You know, the year the industry collapsed and left the industry in utter shambles and was all but lost entirely until that little gray box from Japan made it's way into homes years later?

I'm going to have to go with Fallout: New Vegas on this, so far I've put in over 70 hours on my first playthrough and I've enjoyed all of it, aside from the load screens. I've been extremely lucky with bugs though, I've only had one bug that destroyed a quest and it was a very minor non faction related quest, and it's only frozen once. Compared with the original Fallout 3 freezing up at least ten times during my first play I'd say it's pretty solid. A very close second are Minecraft, although that was initially released in 2009, and Metro 2033. And honestly, I think those are the only three games released in 2010 I've played this year, despite being a 'blockbuster' year, most of the games released haven't appealed to me.

On the poll I chose ME2, which is a fantastic game. It's almost perfect in every way (in my opinion)
However... I'm playing through Mafia II again and oh...my...god I forgot how beautiful, immersive and well-crafted this game is. I love every second of it and it's definitely my joint GOTY along with ME2

Dude! Minecraft! Yeah!

It's simple, yet clever. A nice combination between being creative, but not being given a big canvas of 'blank' you're instead given a canvas of 'scenery' and you have the option to 'change' that scenery how you see fit.

And then there are zombies. Because you have to have zombies.

Also, it turned the sound of sizzling into a horrific sound.

"sssssssssssssSSSSSSS BOOM"

We may have been scared by that sound before (like the chainsaw sound from Resident Evil 4) but this game INTENSIFIED our fear.

Tough choice. Assassins Creed Brotherhood had an awesome single player, and Black Ops had an awesome multiplayer.

Thats why my game of the year is Halo Reach. A game with a wonderful singleplayer with a great story, characters, music, and action. Combined with the highly addictive and fun mutiplayer, it was easily the most enjoyable game I've played. Hell it was close to being a perfect game in my views.
