1. ME2
2. Bioshock 2
3. Red Dead
4. New Vegas
5. Lego Harry Potter

Fable 3, if it's at least as good as Fable 2, will wind up in the top 3.

New Vegas should be #1, but not in its current barely-playable state. If they fix it (and actually fix it, not just release fake patches that don't do anything), then it'll be #1.

Would anyone feel the need to club me to death with a blunt toothpick if I said Halo Reach?
Probably, but I'll say it's my favorite game so far this year regardless.

Bioshock 2.
I told you it was good!

*notches up another convert on the tally*
Not even the half of it. I've only played it for 2 hours last night and it's already blown everything else out of the water, bar mario.

I mean, they could literally end it now and I'd still be impressed. :D

2 words: The Drill.

Also, atmosphere, immersion, vastly improved mechanics, smoother mechanics transitions, tense big sister battles, a story that's more personally engaging, and in general is probably better than the first one in every way.

But mainly The Drill.

EAT SPINNING HOT METAL SUCKAS!

The drill GETS BETTER. Oh my yes. I actually (before my computer done it's finest impression of chernobyl) started a drill/plasmid only playthrough. It's pretty easy, save for that first face off against the big sister. Drill fuel is the only issue, and if you're only needing that instead of other ammo then you can buy infinite quantities of it. It's a lot of fun playing the game big daddy style - the little sister escorts are this kind of whirlpool of violence that gunning down splicers can't quite replicate.

Red Dead for me. I'm not noticing much love for Black Ops. You never know, it might surprise us all.

Yeah I noticed they give you shag all drill fuel. Still, it's quite easy to incapacitate them as you're chewing their insides out. When I run out I start bludgeoning them with it instead, replacing the ol' electro-wrench combo with considerable panache.

It's so manly, I DON'T EVEN NEED TO SPIN THIS CUMBERSOME INEFFICIENT WEAPON.
Oh my yes.
Farnsworth approves. :D

As of right now I have to say Mass Effect 2. My opinion may change later today when I pick up my copy of Fable 3 though.

We'll just have to wait & see now.

Mass Effect 2 for the simple reason that I had never before in my life finished a game six(!!!) times.
Almost exactly this. I have finished games that many times before, but I think we have to go back to Zelda on Super nintendo or something.

Minecraft, without the "lol", because it presents a gaming gem, a shining beacon of simplicity and fun all in one tiny package.

Second would be Mass Effect 2 if they didn't chop off all the RPG game elements to the point where it feels just drooling on the controller would still beat the game.
And third would be Nev Vegas, if they would bother to fix any bugs from Fallout 3, or just slightly improve the damn animations, but no, they just made a new story and shipped.

ME2, then SC2 then... dare I say it... Halo: Reach!

I have been noted to HATE halo.... But I think reach got it back to the core.

Alpha Protocol. i did not expect this game to blow my mind like it did!

Mass Effect 2 - second place. not first because all my favorite stuff is in the DLC.
Fallout: NV - disqualified for game breaking glitches.
Enslaved - not interested.
Red Dead - not interested.
Minecraft (lol) - not interested.
God of War 3 - the first game was amazing, 2 & 3 didn't add any thing.
Civ 5 - RTS? really? NO!

personal list of Honer able mentions in no particular order:
Heavy Rain
Splinter Cell: Conviction
Spider-man: Shattered Dimensions
The Force Unleashed 2
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood - highly anticipated!

Wow, looking back it's been a shitty year in games.
It has?

Alan Wake, Alpha Protocol, Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Bad Company 2, Bioshock 2, Blur, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Civilization V, Crackdown 2, Darksiders, Dead Rising 2, DJ Hero 2, Enslaved, Fable 3, Fallout: New Vegas, FIFA 11, God of War 3, Goldeneye, Gran Turismo 5, HAWX 2, Halo: Reach, Heavy Rain, Just Cause 2, LEGO Harry Potter, Limbo, Madden 11, Mafia 2, Mass Effect 2, Medal of Honor, Metro 2033, ModNation Racers, MLB 10: The Show, Naughty Bear, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, Red Dead Redemption, Singularity, Skate 3, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Split/Second, Star Wars: Force Unleashed 2, Starcraft 2, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Super Scribblenauts, Transformers: War for Cybertron

And those are just the bigger name titles, and not all of them at that. I'd say 2010 was perfectly fine.
