So, let's just make this topic as simple as possible: When you game, what type of gaming platform do you generally game on? Are you part of the glorious PC gaming master race, an ignorant console hooligan, or a filthy handheld peasant?

Personally, while I DO game on all three, lately I find myself gaming on handhelds more than anything else. Really, the current handheld market is a godsend if you're really into retrogaming, as the 3DS's virtual console is making more and more NES and old Gameboy titles I missed out on available, and the PSP is great for catching up on all the Final Fantasys I missed.

Guess I'm just one of those guys who likes "pick up and play" games, and where better to get that than handhelds?

What's with all of the consoles versus PC debate lately (yes I realize you've added handhelds but I guarantee this will become a PC Versus Console thread)?

Might as well fire the first shot in this gaming civil war...

I prefer my console. I am very slowly dipping my toe into the PC landscape but the game-pad has always been my controller of choice and therefore consoles have been my preferred gaming style. I did just buy a wireless adapter thingy to make my 360 controller work on my PC so maybe that opinion will slowly slide as I become assimilated buy some more PC games.

I do own a DS (and am getting a 3DS [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.401242-Poll-The-3DS-or-the-Vita?page=2#16528155] as soon as the store by my house gets their shipment in) but handhelds have never held anything too special for me.

I have everything but gun to my head, choose one, I'd go with my console.

Lately? Did you mean to say "always"?

OT: I only own a PC, so there is not much choice on my part.

So yeah, while they don't all belong to me specifically, I have the ability in my house to play pretty much anything. Well, the laptop isn't great for gaming particularly but it plays Football Manager well enough and that's all I particularly care about for the moment. I do also own a 3DS as well that I've been playing more than usual recently.

How about all of them?

My consoles are mainly for AAA titles, while my PC is mostly used for indie stuff. My handhelds keep me entertained on longer trips, but for short commutes I usually mess around on my phone.

My platform of choice is whatever one best suits my preferences or situation at that point.

I was a pure console gamer for most of my life until I got a gaming Laptop last month. I now have a decent mix going. Console for FPS and RPGs, PC for Strategy and the occasional MMO or LoL game . Good Equilribium (think that is spelled right).

Edit: And I forgot my good ole' DS for Pokemon games on them boring car rides.

PC and Handheld.

Moved on from Consoles mostly because I've been liking my PC better. Lots of games I want to play with amazing graphics and frame rates, Mods for game play after the initial game is finished, Emulation for playing classics, with no hassle of switching disk, as well as easy access to Internet, Windows Media Player for movies, Illustrator and Photoshop, all on the same machine. I mean, if my computer can do all that, whats the point of having a machine that can just play games and maybe some of the features, but definitely not as well? Also, the fact that I spent hours picking out its components and putting it all together gives me a sense of ownership and pride. This little beast is mine.

Now if only Japanese developers would port more of their games to it. God damn it Atlus, Level- 5, Tri-Ace, Namco. Me want some Ni no Kuni, Shin Megami Tensei, and Tales on PC!

Also, I use a Nintendo 3DS when I'm out of the house. Helps pass the time if I'm waiting for osmeone of if I'm on the Bus.

All hail the glory of the multi-platform master race!

These are all the gaming platforms i play on...

PC, PS1, PS2, PS3, Xbox, Xbox 360, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Wii, Wii-U, Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, Mega CD/Sega CD, Saturn, Dreamcast, Amiga CD-32, Atari Jaguar, 3DO, TurboGrafx-16, and IOS.

That's not even counting the compilation discs i have for the Atari 2600, Intellivision, Neo-Geo, and Arcade games.

It didn't cost me the world either, and I can enjoy all sorts of games.

PC. I like that I can do pretty much anything gaming-wise on a pc, and with steam sales being what they are, it's relatively affordable. I like what current handhelds like the 3Ds are doing though, if I had the cash I'd give them a try.

PC. I have no problem with consoles, I just can't use controllers. Those analog sticks are hellspawn. And most of my gaming interests (RPGs, RTS etc) all have solid lives on PC, so it works out.

I own all current gen home consoles, plus a PSP and a DS.

Now I own a PC that can run, very comfortably, Skyrim on High.
All is good in the world.

These are pretty much exactly my thoughts.

The only difference for me is that while I'm on the move, I'm mostly playing on my Android phone rather than a dedicated hand-held like a 3DS etc

Guess "other"

As I own a Pc, PS3, Xbox360, PSP and 3ds and honestly all they are in a nutshell is a personal computer processor and stream lined graphics processor in a different box with a slightly different OS and cover.

But then again most fanboys can't wrap around the idea that the pc elitist, consoles and even the handhelds are just Intel chips with slight different flavoring. Everything seems to play the same games, even if it takes a little work and a emulator...

I used to be a console gamer, then I switched to PC 2 years ago. The I realized that I game whatever platform go the game I want.

That is why I use Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U and 3DS whenever it pleases me.

Much as I own and use all three, I prefer the PC by a pretty wide margin. Lets just say I like moddability and input options... simplicity of setup and portability aren't an issue for me more often than not, being a hardware geek raised in the 80s and 90s. PC setup these days is ridiculously easy when you grew up making gaming machines out of leftover server parts (ever install windows 95 on an old 386 DX2 40 from floppy just to see if it would run? I did, and it did... slowly).
