Fellow escapists I pose a question to you all how do you act in choice games(ME2,fable,etc.)
Do you like the way choice is handled in these games? How would you do it?
Personally It varies based on ammo.
Let me give you an example in fallout 3 i always do "good" in the missions but If caps or ammo goes down to double digits only, I ice caravan and steal like no tommorow.

It depends. If the person I help sounds nice or pitiful enough, I'll help. If they act like a dick, I shoot them in the face and steal all their money.

Also, I tend to kill irritating NPCs. I've finally cleansed Oblivion of all the annoying characters, which seems to be most of them...

I'm mostly good, but I usually have one standard that i keep to, no matter the choice.

Like in Mass Effect. ...Nobody takes my gun. Nobody

I'm usually a good guy but games like ME2 can really push my alliegence, because sometimes it's much funner to just shove a guy out a window than to let him finish saying "I can't tell you anything, but your good argument on letting me live will persuade me to tell you anyway in about three seconds."

I tend to keep to my own morals, which means following neutrality.

But so help me God if a character angers me. The lengths I will go to in order to remove them from existence are close to apocalyptic.

It depends if the game makes me care enough about the characters, and even if they do I usually just kill all the other people I don't care about.

I just jump in and have fun good or evil. Infamous for example I started out good, went evil and have been slowly redeeming myself. It's like a little plot I'm making on my own.

Depends based on the situation.
I tend to lean towards a sort of neutral good approach. I help people, but if you double cross me, or you're working for the bad guys, well... you won't live long.

Unless I'm playing Fable, that tends to be a bit more black and white, so I'll just go for one extreme or the other.

For the most part, I play a good character. I say for the most part because that doesn't mean I'm completely good, if I feel that this person deserves to die then I kill them.

The problem with the morality systems in games (as a well hatted individual probably pointed out at some point) is that the 'choices' you make in games aren't really the decision you would normally make but instead depend on something you try to anticipate happening. Like in Mass Effect 1 there is (as far as I remember) an achievement for having 100% paragon/renegade, but it was possible to miss out on the achievement if you happaneded to make the wrong reply during a conversation that turned out to be incredibly vague. So in games most of the time I'll pick whatever option results in an achievement. Though given free reign, I'd probably choose a mix of evil and good, depends on the situation and whether boobs are involved.

I... actually feel phenomenally guilty when I play games and don't take the good route. Their little fictitious lives mean something to me for whatever reason, so I'm always like 'no, no, keep your credits, I mean I'm only on a mission to save the galaxy, I couldn't use that to pay for new armour or anything.' This is perhaps because the less kind options are always needlessly malicious, and if it's a choice between 'I can't accept any reward' and various degrees of kicking the dog... Well, the dog remains thoroughly unkicked, and my pockets thoroughly unlined. I'm a sap. >>

it depends really, I like everyone in Dragon Age Origins way to much to be a dick to them
and conversely I don't give two shits about how Miranda from Mass Effect 2 feels so fuck her

but I'll usually play through more than once just go try and get all the reactions possible

I have the capability for both. If the people in the game evoke no empathy, they're probably going to be my *****. If they make me care for them, then I'll be their stalwart defender. Sometimes I just want to go batshit and kill everybody though. I usually have three characters in any given game for this purpose.

I choose to get rewards so if its a choice between killing a guy and getting money then I tend to choose money but it depends on how much I like the character and after a certain point in many games it gets so easy to make money that it doesn't factor into decisions. And I seem to usually end up taking the Moral Route.

The other thing that does factor in though is experience points, there are a few quests in many RPG's where it is a choice between doing something evil and not doing anything so I choose to do something, which happens to be evil.

Good. I'm typically Neutral Good in most situations, but I can go to Lawful or Chaotic Good here and there. :)
D&D references?! You are my new favorite person! Also, why am I not surprised that you would be Neutral Good (Benefactor, also called True Good)?

I usually play neutral in games, sometimes straying into good territory. I'm only evil if something pisses me off or I need to blow off steam.

Don't know if it matters, but I'm Chaotic Neutral IRL
