I'm assuming you mean in the sense that our countries are being directly invaded? In that case I would have nothing to worry about. Invading America directly is suicide and even global powers like China or Russia wouldn't be able to handle the logistics of transporting that much hardware and men across the planet and not being able to replace those assets when our Military smashes what they bring overseas. They would be bankrupt in a matter of months trying to fund such an absurd endeavor.

We have conscription in here, and I already have a position assigned for me in case of war. I'd be a clerck in the airforce. So no fighting for me, just paperwork, which is a good thing.

Who would want to start a war with Sweden?

I would probably sign up when i turned 18, I mean if Sweden is attacked we need all the soldiers we can get. Plus i get to play with Swedish military equipment! That shit is advanced.

PS. I would spread love and tolerance among my brothers in arms.

The military can suck it. I'd get me a firearm and defend my street if it comes down to it, but I'm not going to follow orders from some asshat who joined a few years before I did and now thinks he's better than me. I'm sure there are good officers out there but since I don't get a vote they won't get me.

Anyone who bought something from Ikea and spent 4 hours assembling it just to find out that the few final pieces are missing.

Not enlisting. I am not allowed to enlist because I failed the health test and they can't be sure they will be able to keep me supplied with medicines.

Your Topic is not accurate, Finland is not at war!
I kid I kid...

I wouldn't have a choice!
In Finland men have mandatory military service and since I only have a few months left of it, if war would come to Finland and I wouldn't join it would be seen as being a traitor to my country. If we wouldn't have this system I would still sign up to protect my ocuntry!

I'm not a frontline person...
I'd go for the behind the scenes action.

Yeah I rather not go where the bullets are... Doesn't mean I don'tk now how to cut a few wires though |3
But who would want to attack the Netherlands? We're... [--] this small.

I'm not permitted to kill people, so they'll get no soldier out of me.

Besides, I don't cope well with blood and injuries and I'll handle even worse if it's my blood or injury.

I'll just set up somewhere nice, with many platypus. Any solder dumb enough to invade Australia has clearly never felt the wrath of a platypus before.

I heard it's lovely in New Zealand.

I believe I can contribute much more to my country by not dying and not killing. Rarely have I heard any individuals with a grasp of sense say that they would go back into War once they are out.

Too young, I have glasses and mildly asthmatic. I couldn't enlist even if I wanted to. But I would do my best to help.

EDIT:Let's say I was old enough, had good eye-sight and had no asthma. I definitely would. Although I'd prefer someone that's a cross between Sergeant Hartman and Captain Sobel. Someone tough but not crazy-tough and strict but not chickenshit-strict. If I'm putting my life on the line, I want to get the best training. I don't want to be a statistic in another Klendathu!

But I hear most boot-camp instructors are actually normal people. And just a question, do they still have paratroopers?

It's not too bad. I used to hate the idea of having to do military service, but after I actually got there, and got over the initial "culture shock", it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected. Looking back to it, it was a good experience. (Although, looking back to things usually makes them seem better that they might have actually been.) Besides it's only 6 months to a year anyway.

It did delay my university studies by a year, but everyone does it (except women), so that's just how it goes.

How many civilian lives have been taken on their side of the border?

No, I wouldn't enlist. Who the hell would throw themselves into a war with "unclear" causes? The actions of my hypothetical family and friends would have no influence on me because they are clearly morons.
Keep in mind that noone knew about the concentration camps in WW2 until the soldiers just happened to stumble across them. In hindsight it was pretty obvious Hitler needed to be stopped, but at the time it all started for the US with a few thousand people dying in Hawaii.

Which is pretty much what the OP was describing.

It's not our fault you cant properly assemble your tables and desks with the parts provided by the company.

The thought of killing someone upsets me to much, plus I love my life.
I would probably be more of a liability on the battlefield:p

So no. I would not enlist.

My nation IS at war and if I were to enlist it would be on the side of the "enemy".

Whether I do that or not depends on how long I can keep my conscience at bay while we invade third world countries under false pretences to steal their natural resources and replace their governing bodies with cute little puppets whose strings we hold.
