This topic hasn't come up in a while as far as I can tell.
So escapists, how well do you get along with your family and what do you think of them? And for more detail, how well do your family members get along with each other? (like mom's side vs dad's side)
Coming from an Indian/Pakistani/Hindustani family on dad's side and a Mexican American family on mom's side, my family is insanely huge and though I know many family members I have not even met half of the total family members I have. My family is always interesting and awesome. I grew up with my cousins and uncles/aunts in Zambia so I knew them well and always hung out with them, so we have a great relationship. Even now as I sit here in America with my immediate family I still talk to them whenever I can. Though unfortunately I don't know my mom's side of the family very well. And both sides don't really care to know each other; I can't imagine what it would be like to mix a bunch of Shia Muslim Pakistani/Indian Africans with a bunch of hardcore Catholic Texas Mexicans, I think the world would explode.
As for my immediate family: My sister is like a second mom, my dad is like a hero who I can look up to, and my mom is a strong and pure of heart woman who always kept us together even in the toughest times. So needless to say I have a high opinion of family, which is strongly emphasized by the culture I was raised in. But I understand not everyone is into family or even likes their family. If you just want to ***** about your family and rip them to shreds that's fine with me, I will allow bitching. I am not expecting everyone to be subtle about their opinion of their family, whether you praise them like Gods or insult them it's perfectly fine.
EDIT: So it seems majority vote goes to those who think their family is pretty cool, which is nice. Followed closely by meh (ok I guess) and totally awesome. I see not many voted on the "what family?" option. That option is aimed at those with no real opinion on their family because of either not caring much about them or them not playing much of a role in their life. And the kittens option is for random ridiculousness; but also for those who either don't want to vote, don't know what to pick, or really like kittens like I do.
