Because I'm curious: a lot of the geeky guys I know personally have facial hair. A lot of the geeky girls I know personally, mostly date clean shaven guys.
So I'm wondering what the wider consensus is on the subject of facial hair.
Do you have it, do you like it, do you appreciate it on others?

In the interest of civility let's everyone be constructive with any criticism and generally try not to be mean.

EDIT: sorry, I messed up on the poll. there was supposed to be an option for homosexuals who Don't like facial hair. I got absurd with the poll too soon.

Well, at least we all have bacon.

It depends on the guy really.
Some guys look better clean shaven, while others look better with facial hair. I will say, If a guy chooses to have facial hair, I prefer it to be trimmed or styled in some way, not scraggly and patchy.

No doubt that proper grooming is important and that facial hair looks better on some men rather than others but there are some people who are a bit more passionate about it than you or I?

Just giving my opinion is all. From the standpoint of a geeky girl, I really couldn't care less if the guy has facial hair or not, as long as he sports it well. I'm sure there are people who are more passionate about it, but to only poll those people who have a solid preference one way or the other, will give you skewed poll results.

I voted "Bacon" myself.

I like my goatee & I've had positive & negative reactions to it by other people. I keep it trimmed up nice most of the time, but I have let it get quite long a funky looking a couple of times.

I shave at least 2 or 3 times a week. I have to. Gets pretty scruffy otherwise. Usually I just have a six o'clock shadow. Plus I gotta keep it clean for work. I did have a beard at one point but I didn't care for it. If you do go with facial hair, remember to give it the same treatment as the hair on your head. Shampoo, conditioner, whatever floats your boat.

I don't mind my facial hair that is if I'm by myself/ alone but when I'm in public especially at work, I shave it cos it does look scuffy. Also no I'm not exactly hiding anytime or being shame to shave it off I just want to look profession in my work field.

I'm a guy and I don't like having facial hair (itches like crazy after reaching a certain length), but I also hate shaving. I tried sporting a beard at one point, but I could never get a handle on grooming - Always screwing up the edges. Also, the itching.

So most of the time I'll be walking around with a stubble.

I hate facial hair.

I can't even give my boyfriend a proper cuddle when he has facial hair.
It's itchy, uncomfortable, and it gives me a rash.
My skin is extremely sensitive, which is kind of annoying.
It may look nice, but it's not practical.

Anyway, the important part is if YOU personally like to have a beard.
If you're the kind of person who grows hair on his face, you'd want to attract the kind of person who likes that. Right?

Facial hair only does one thing, make you look like a hobo.

Nobody looks better with a facial hair, at least I have yet to see one.

Gamers and nerds in general seem to think facial hair is awesome but they are like fedoras, not as cool as you think.

The only reasons I ever have facial hair is because I'm either too lazy to shave or because I forget to shave. Facial hair just itches too much, and unless I haven't gotten my hair cut in a while, it doesn't look good on me either.

I think, when I have it at least, it makes me look scruffy and not-well-kept. I do grow it however occasionally, because the feel when you shave and have a really smooth chin is just bliss :3

I am cursed with looking like I'm 13 unless I have facial hair, so I keep a fairly healthy stubble at all times, which instead makes me look rather David-Morissey-as-The-Governor (if I bother to sort out my hair). On the other hand, I did decide it was probably for the best to shrink my sideburns down to size. The only circumstance in which I will ever grow large amounts of facial hair is in the unlikely event that I join Mastodon.

I can't answer the poll. I mean

I fully agree with that.

And I agree with that, too. I compromise by shaving every 2-3 days so I have something like a 5 o'clock shadow. Or something - I'm not really sure if it qualifies for a stubble as I usually imagine a stubble being slightly bigger than what I tolerate. I also like scratching my hand on my beard - so soothing. If I get a longer beard it just tickles and it's annoying.

And yeah, that's something that prompts me to shave, actually - when I get a rash on my hand, it means I'm a bit overdue.

I am pro facial hair. Sadly my profession is very against it, so for the most part I am clean shaven these days. However, in college I had a Dimebag Darrell type goatee, bleached and died red to boot. Most of my friends back home, more redneck then gamer nerd, also have quite a bit of facial hair.

It depends on the guy and how it is styled. My boyfriend for example, looks much better with a little beard as long as it stays trimmed. Long, messy bushy beards to me just look bleaurgh. Some faces simply can't pull it off.

In my opinion:

Totally not bias because the man is beautiful no matter what >.>

Also add the pic Omega posted of Brad Pitt to this. Without homeless men beards, these guys are incredibly attractive.

Oh lordy his beauty brings tears to my eyes.

Keep it neat, and men look gorgeous. I think I actually prefer it, although I used to be very much against it. Some men just don't have the sort of face for certain facial hair. If they get it right they can look sooooo0o0oo0o sexy ;_;

I'm not sure how to answer the poll, because I have kind of...in between views, I guess.

I kind of like having a beard, it looks alright on me I think and doesn't feel too bad (once it's thick enough), however, I utterly despise the stretch in between "clean shaven" and "real beard". It takes me about 7-10 days of not shaving to get to a decent point, before then I look and feel hideous. I hate touching my face and feeling I'm not clean shaven, and that really sucks for me because my facial hair grows super fast (I have to shave two or three times or day because after about five or six hours, everyone who looks at me assumes I'm a slob who was too lazy to shave for the past day or two). So I guess I "like" facial hair, in that I like it when its grown, but getting to that point is awful to the point that I kind of wish I didn't have the stuff at all.
