I never liked people who use terms like noob, newb, n00b, nub, e.c.t.
Seems unhealthy to have derogatory terms based on a persons ability to play a game.
I'd rather just pull my mic out than taunt an obnoxious/unskilled person.

Someone who upon deciding to play a long established multiplayer game can't take the thirty seconds to check the wiki ariticle and pick up some basics. Also anyone who; points their sentry at a wall in TF2, anyone who does not repair someone else's sentry if they are an engineer in TF2. Basically I define noobs as anyone who is selfish in a multiplayer game, this covers glitchers and greifers but also people who can't be arsed paying the $20 to get a freaking headset so that you can tell your team mates that due to an episode of severe pants on head retardedness you have allowed a spy into the base and he is even now preparing to stab people who until only seconds ago thought that their spines were safe.

Plays unfairly and is a jerk is my definition.
But I don't even like the word noob.

This sums it up:

Newb - New player. Merely uninformed. Wishes to learn, and will appreciate all the pointers you give them.
Noob - Experienced/inexperienced player, who lacks skill, and proclaims they have it.
Wishes to stay uninformed, so they can retain "1337ness." Noobs are more likely to exhibit "Douche-baggy" behavior.
^i second this

Noobs=fail. There is my short description, now to elaborate. I dislike the word noob, this is largely due to it's overuse, people parade it around like it makes them god every time they speak it. It only gets worse when you go from the internet to xbox live, I know this is not suprising but I feel the need to mention it, it seems every time I do better than somone in an online game, they call me a noob. What the hell is that supposed to mean? I'm better than you at the game...this makes me...a noob? Why? How? Why do you sound like an 8-year-old Southern American?(even though your probably not)

There, that should do.(yes I know I didn't directley answer the question)

I reserve noob for people who simply can't grasp the gameplay mechanics no matter how long they have played.

I found this in WOW when my level 44 paladin could kill level 60's thanks to ret-bombs and being awesome, and them just not knowing how to play their class well.

I find it in counter-strike where, after taking a break from playing for a few years I come back to the same people playing and they are still near the bottom of the scoreboard.

If someone just started playing, it is too soon for judge.

Noobs make excellent cannon fodder.

Its an elitist internet term that describes a person with a low skill level in a game. We were all Noobs once...
Depends on the context and game...

By the way wouldn't it be elitist to say that a bunch of people are being elitist? (I doubt that's what you meant, but I couldn't be paid to shut-up.)

From my experience a noob is a griefer who is horrible at the game. Possibly someone with a lot of misplaced confidence in their pathetic gaming skill.

Noobs can be noobs, everyone has to start from somewhere. If they accept help that is offered, don't expect it and don't whine into the chat/mic, I'll be happy.
