DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT want this to become a flame war or a my-position-is-better-than-yours debate. Let's be mature about this for once. If I see a flame war, I will ask the mods to close this thread.

Tell us a little bit about your political position from your point of view, as long as you're not bashing others and are respectful. I think it would also be good to ask each other questions about the presented political positions, again, in a respectful and non-inflammatory manner. We're all friends here, right?

Let me start off. As those of you who know a bit about Japan might point out (see avatar), I'm a communist. Communism is a left anarchist political ideology based on the establishment of an egalitarian, oppression-free, classless and stateless society without the need of currency. Laws, etc. are all decided upon via direct democracy (communism is the purest form of democracy. Everyone contributes to society in some way, shape or form and is in turn supplied with their needs of living. The ideology was first thoroughly described by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels in The Manifesto of the Communist Party. Anyway, that's my (very) brief definition of communism. What about you guys?

I prefer "moderate" over "Centrism" as a term, but generally I have no ties. To keep it simple I'm a moderate that leans right and happens to be rather Libertarian, but generally the way I see it is giving a label is absolutely foolish.

I tend to piss everyone around me off, though. When I was at College people thought I was right-winged because I endlessly bitched about liberals and democrats. When I'm at home, however, I'm confronted with an extremely conservative and republican family and it drives me nuts. I keep hearing people try and talk about what's ruining this country, mostly my family saying "it's all this free sex" or whatever the Hell, but the real problem is there is no compromise. People have to be willing to sacrifice certain things they feel are right for others.

But nope, everyone on the left things they are intellectually enlightened, and the ones on the right think they are morally superior. Both are so full of their own shit they can't even see how stupid both sides are.

I don't really back a party but the Monster Raving Loony party would get my vote if I could be bothered to vote.

I'm to the left of the progressive spectrum in theory; but in practice, I lean more towards the center on a number of issues(there can be no change overnight, right?).

Indifferent, the issues I really care about refused to be addressed by any party because they are too touchy a subject.
I honestly don't give a shit about most issues although I can't imagine why people can't let other people do whatever the hell they want as long as it doesn't actually effect them.

I agree I hate the democrats for calling me "rascist" and "elitist" because I don't like it when my tax dollars go to other peoples benefit and not mine when I'm trying hard enough to get a college fund as it is, and I hate republicans for their inability to turn the other shoulder to people who do "grave sins".

I suppose I'd have to label myself a centrist. I'm very liberal about certain issues, but I also sometimes find myself siding with conservatives on other issues. I really don't see how any logical or reasonable person could be COMPLETELY liberal or COMPLETELY conservative.

I would label myself a moderate leaning to the left, although I may sign up for the Democrat party just to vote in the Presidential Primaries, still independent otherwise.

Basically I am pro gay rights, abortion and stem cell research. I'm pro gun rights though because gun laws are complete bs, they dont help in the slightest. As long as gangsters can get their hands on automatics on the black market we should allow our legit citizens to arm themselves. Besides, rises in gun rights have followed a fall in crime rates.

I don't know.

Libertarianism is great in theory. I'm going to go with that one for right now.

I've got a couple questions for you. First off, what would your avatar be from? It's puzzled me a bit. Secondly, is there any particular branch of Communism you go from? I'm a bit of a Trotskyist myself.

Well, I guess that would answer the question, I'm a full fledged Communist.

I couldn't agree with you more about that. Gun laws make sure only people who don't care about the laws can get guns...which spells trouble. While I dislike guns, in a world where they exist, it feels more secure to have one of your own, so you know you're not at a disadvantage in an emergency.

I don't have that good a term but I generally describe myself as liberal, half out of having views considered liberal (universal health care, socially liberal, etc.) and half out of my hatred for right-wing media sources like Rush and Fox News.

Also, even if the OP said no flaming, this will not end well.

Absolute Moderate.

(Which sounds like a really bland Vodka, huh?)

In short, I think both sides have good and bad ideas, and I believe only by achieving harmony and taking the best of both can a better world arise.

....or at least it will make internet forums a bit quieter and radio shows less annoying.

Centrist-Libertarian non-Partisan.

Basically, I ascribe to a neutral balance of both progressive (I hate the term "liberal") and old conservative (as opposed to neo-conservative). As a Libertarian, I believe that the government has no right to interfere with the privacy of the people and rights to such, while also being able to responsibly provide for the people, such as universal health-care and trained law enforcement.

I support the legalization of recreational drugs like marijuana, on the basis that doing so will allow for better government regulation, as well as distribution; it would be treated the same as alcohol, in that it is a privilege that requires identification and revoking if it is used irresponsibly. It would decrease crime, seeing as how people would go through the actual legal means, instead of otherwise; it could also be a good taxing opportunity.

I am strongly non-interventionist, at least to the extent of the military and diplomatic relations, especially in terms of Israel and the Middle East. In my opinion, there is nothing left to be gained from remaining affiliated with them, as oil is no longer a prospective resource, our oil allies end up supporting terrorism anyways, and Israel continues to exploit us for every military opportunity they can. We have accomplished nothing but making enemies with people who just want to wipe themselves out anyways. It's a controversial stance, but one that I stick by readily.

Socially, I'm more liberal, as I support gay rights, and disapprove of the religious influence that hangs over both the government and our society. I believe that, while wishing no ill will towards the religious and how they wish to express themselves, government should be run with a secular sensibility in mind, so that actual progress on both scientific and equal rights fronts can be achieved.

I'm a fan of the Napoleonic Code's interpretation of justice, which is to eliminate the jury altogether and have the trial presided over by a panel of professional judges, so as to ensure no bias, sympathy ploys, or such, make their way into the courtroom.

As such, my preferred politicians are people like Ralph Nader, Ron Paul, and Pat Buchanan. That's my views in a nutshell.
