More libertarian than anything though, and to be fair I've never been to a truly Capitalist place. I.e. If I want to buy something I can buy it because it's between me (the buyer) and the seller, not 'only in cases where the state allows it'. Course, that makes representatives kinda pointless, and they have elections to win you know.

Did you know in Europe, fluorescent light bulbs are illegal now? If that's not a case of arbitrary government then I don't know what is.

Bullshit. Communism ignores the fact that people are greedy, insular mother fuckers who, if they see someone with something, immediately want that something for themselves. If we all became robots with no flaws, then sure, communism MIGHT stand a chance at working. As it is, human nature will overrides the principles of any political stance.

Well it doesnt seem like you ment this to be a serious thread, but im going to go ahead and be semi-serious.

Im a conservative. Now for whatever reason people think tight-assed, no fun, scared of boobs conservatives. I dont really care about thier social agendas, i think thats the words im looking for. I dont care if people are haivng sex with 300 partners, i dont care if billy saw tits in titanic. What i do care about is taxes, and a competitive free market system, and the government minding thier own business and realizing they serve me, not the other way around.

Although I am much more towards the middle on this subject between Liberalism and Conservatism, I supposed Capitalism would be the best choice for me. On social questions I find myself siding much more with Liberals (such as being pro-choice and pro-stem cell research), while on economic policy I side with Conservatives... (I don't like the government having it's hands in my pockets.)

Oh by the way this is my first post. While I have been reading these forums for quite some time this is the first I have attempted to make contact with you so called "Escapists". I can see people here have much different political ideals than myself. I must say I am quite shocked to see so many seemingly quite intelligent people saying Communism is a good idea... It has been proven time and time again that it doesn't work. Arguments can be made for Socialism I suppose. Yes I am from the United States. From what I can tell many people here are anti "American", but please don't let my place of birth cause a blemish on any views towards me .
