I'm not really sure, as I've never played much in the ways of video game RPGs and even less in the way of tabletop. Me and a friend that was trying to set up a tabletop game did have a crack at making a character for me. Ended up with an alcoholic mechanic that could fix anything mechanical at all. Vehicles, weapons, generators, anything and also hold his own in a brawl or fire-fight. But only while drunk. And as we were set in some kind of wasteland/crapsack world, good booze would be hard to come by. He was able to make moonshine though, which had side-effects of 1/6 chance of temporary blindness and 1/200 chance of permanent blindness.
I think at some point we just completely forgot about the rules of the game and were just riffing on this idea. It was good fun, but we never got round to playing!
