I neither love it nor hate it. I read the first three or four chapters in a bookstore once, enjoyed it, but have since lost the motivation to pick it up again.

I admit I saw the movie first and had entered the cinema with no idea what to expect to I got to say the movie I saw was a masterpiece. Then I read the comic and I think I like them both equally.

I like it, the story was enticing and the characters were all likable and each of their motivations was well explained.

Definitely one of the best graphic novels I've read. Haven't had a chance to see the movie though. By the way, totally unrelated to the topic, but has anyone read Pyongyang, by Guy Delisle? It's about his three month long trip in North Korea. It's quite frightening and funny at the same time. Sorry about deviating from the original post (I feel so ashamed :( )

Well, after reading the book first, I will say it is one of the best novels of all time and then after seeing the movie I actually really enjoyed the movie. A lot of people who didn't read the book had trouble enjoying the movie and in fact most said they didn't like it very much. However, the film is great because it serves the fans. Instead of trying to please everyone and making a monstrosity of a film it just sticks with the real fans.

My view is "enough already".
It was an okay movie but it was no epiphany. I neither hated nor loved it, but I'm starting to feel strongly about these Watchmen-threads.

I thought the movie was fantastic. I still need to read the comic, but I thought the movie was perfect. Characters showed depth and developement and it is the best superhero movie I can think of.

I thought it was okay. Dr. Manhattan and Rorschach were both entertaining, but that was about it.

Most people I've noticed just like one character from it...

I liked them both - but the comic is superior just because it has more content and it explains things a little more.

Although I would have preferred some things different in the movie (i didnt know a comic book sex scene in a film would be so......long and awkward.) I think they did a good job restricting it to the time limit.

The graphic novel (or comic if you will) is one of the best out there, only paralleled by Sandman (as in Morpheus, the Dream King, not Spider-Man villain). And the movie exceeded my expectations. Cannot wait to see the DC.

It's a brilliant film. The dark atomosphere, the brilliant characters, the good acting (bar one or two characters), kick arse special effects and bloody brilliant lines.
For example
"I'm not trapped in with you, YOUR TRAPPED IN WITH ME"
- Rorschach

Well, I thought the graphic novel wasn't as good as everyone says it was but good nonetheless. The problem with me is I like to be moved by what I read. Watchmen was moving in parts (especially liked the whole chapter with Rorschach and his psychologist) but I couldn't shake the feeling that it was trying too hard to be post-modern and smart. Nothing wrong with that of course but its not for me. For that reason I'd pick Maus over Watchmen any day.
