Loved the comic, was extremely disappointed by the film.
and why is that???
Because the comic was masterpiece, and the film went down the 'badass' road in order to appease stupids.
I thought the movie made it go down the reality road?
The comic had a pretty realistic grounding, Squid aside.
In real life, those characters would have been quite ridiculous, which is how the comic portrayed them.
Whereas the film included a heavy-metal soundtrack, a minigun strapped to Archie. How is that any more realistic? And how is it better?

Oh..and the thread title. It's spelled view. Sorry, it was just bugging me =]

I thought the movie was fantastic. I still need to read the comic, but I thought the movie was perfect. Characters showed depth and developement and it is the best superhero movie I can think of.
Pretty much this. It hasn't affected me that I didn't read the comic, so I don't understand why alot of people are saying the movie was for people who are fans already.

I thought the explained the comic ending pretty accurately. I mean the guy had Bubastis which was that large cat/sphynx thing.

first no spoilers please... the soundtrack is mainly composed of old stuff, like bob dylan, that went into the comic's side notes and that I now of there were 2 metal-ish songs? and the mini-gun... I don't know about the mini-gun... but the ending was the main thing I was talking about...

Loved both the Book and the film. I read the book second (it is better in my oipinion) and I was amazed to see how faithful it kept in places even with the way some of the seens were shot to match up with how the panels changed in the comic book.

My one dissapiontment was that the film missed out the black friegther which to me, at the very least, showed the dedication that Moore felt for the original comic that he added another comic to it ( a meta-comic if you will)

EDIT; added the word "loved" because other wise it made no sense. Also this is my 900th post woot

that was also a downer for me but at the same time the movie would of been 5 hours long if they added it... or something like that?

I would've watched it, the Freighter was a little odd and a bit uncomfortable but morbid curiosity would've seen me through

Haven't read the book yet but I really enjoyed the movie. The big ass 3 hour film is epic with the help of all the amazing songs they popped of the soundtrack, the good acting, interesting characters and interesting murder mystery story.

I'm interested to know why some people dislike it if anyone would like to share their views.

What the hell was that thing? I mean it had to have been somewhat important right? But with no explanation it was just a weird cat thing that made no sense whatsoever.
The large cat was one of the first genetic creations of adrian's investments - its how they made the giant alien squid(With the help of the worlds best writers, artists and scientists).

£5.99 and voiced by gerard butler - This does look like a good investment!

I think the abundance of blue dongs did it for me.

...

Oh, COME ON, I can't have been the first person to comment on it.

I think most of us removed it from our minds - there was a lot of blue wang.

Well you have to admit that not everyone can put up with the blue willy in your face on the big screen.

Anyway I was hoping someone could tell me why they dislike the film besides that. Some people just hated it.

My view is "enough already".
It was an okay movie but it was no epiphany. I neither hated nor loved it, but I'm starting to feel strongly about these Watchmen-threads.
Who watches the watchmen threads?

Watchmen says a great deal of very significant things about the nature of superhero comicbook stories, how they are told, and what, when it comes down to it, is wrong with them.

Most of that is still relevant today. Superheroes still have no impact on their world, their stories still have no true ending, only an abatement until the next crisis, and the types of people they depict are still, heroes and villains all, basket cases.
