I think its mostly based on common sense, you could have a huge memory, and be brilliant at calulating mathematics, but if you dont know to stay away from fire you are very stupid
Think outside of the box. It depends on what you do with the fire. If you are a fireman, you need to be near the fire now don't you? Besides, firemen can be really smart. Besides, the heat of the fire can be useful, if you are cold as hell.
