I think its mostly based on common sense, you could have a huge memory, and be brilliant at calulating mathematics, but if you dont know to stay away from fire you are very stupid

it's really a complex thing. everyone likes to say it's iq but that only deals with logic problems, what about people who can look at something and then redraw it or recreate the scene in another room or people who can look at a map and translate it into their position

it's not something that's simply answered as someone who can excel at certain mental tasks can fail badly at logic problems and would have a "lower" intelligence than someone who could easily solve a logic problems but fail at other mental tasks

It's your ability to find the most efficient and effective decision using the facts you have at hand coupled with your willingness to act upon it.

Intelligence is different for every person, and it's also relative. Some peoples value a certain aspect, while others value another, so one could be a genius to some and a dumbass to others.

It's pretty damned complex, that's what it is. Different people are good at different things, and have various mental strenghts. Some are very artistic, some are very analytic, some work good under pressure, etc etc.

Intelligence has so many meaning to so many people.
Wisdom is generally confused with it on many levels;

Book Smarts vs Street Smarts
IQ vs EQ
Money vs Fame
Accumulated Friends vs Enemies
Experience from History vs Planned Future
Logic (knowing what should happen) vs Controlling Chaos (knowing what to do when things don't happen as planned)
Knowledge vs Application
Strategic Thinking vs Quick Thinking
Simple Answers vs Complex Bullshit

It's a complex concept since each person has their own version of it?

I think intelligence is a concept that relates to the situation.
General problem solving skills won't help you if you lack the knowledge (as in facts) needed to understand the problem, just like that same knowlegde doesn't mean that you can automatically solve that same problem.

Think outside of the box. It depends on what you do with the fire. If you are a fireman, you need to be near the fire now don't you? Besides, firemen can be really smart. Besides, the heat of the fire can be useful, if you are cold as hell. I'm not telling to stand on it, just saying to be near it is smart.

Not knowing that walking into fire and staying there a while unprotected is not safe, that makes you stupid.

An Engineer is intelligent and may or may not be wise.
A Psychologist may or may not be wise or intelligent.
An old man is wise and may or may not be intelligent.

My definition of intelligence is quite simple. Its manifestation is, however, extremely varied.

There are different forms of intelligence. Someone can be smart and have no common sense. Someone can be lacking intellectually, but have a great empathetic intelligence. I believe everyone has a form of intelligence, but that not everyone has the same type intelligence.

There are many different types of intelligence. I, for example, could not broker stocks for a large business so that it doesn't go under, but I can describe the differences between cardiac, smooth and skeletal muscle cells in some detail.
