Personally I dont do it, have never downloaded a game or obtained it by any other means. All the games I have on my computer have been bought in shops or on ebay. What about you, explain why you do or dont?

Only if I see the developer is f*cking with me. Like Valve that overprices their games for the EU market, or EA doing same (their games are ALWAYS more expensive than anything else) for the same basic game, every year.

Or Price of Persia and "no DLC for PC version". Or if the game has some useless DRM and I can't install it more than 3 times.

If I like the game, I buy it. That's why the first day Mass Effect 2 and Diablo 3 are out, I'm buying them. Just out of respect to the developers.

I save so much money trying news things out the wrong way that I can afford to buy more of the things I know to be good.

I download the odd TV show or two, games are totally different. Music, movies, and TV shows all have alternate means of profitability: theaters, concerts, commercials. Games on the other hand only make money by people paying to play them. The last game I pirated was Max Payne 2...which I have bought now. Before that, it was Morrowind...which I bought. Before that, Napster was king, so it's been a long while.

I know it's cliché, but don't bite the hand that feeds you.

if you want to play a game, you have to pay for it. it's really that simple. there is no grey area in stealing something that doesn't belong to you.

I see no problem with pirating games I can no longer get hold of like Tropico and I pirate the odd new release when I have no money.

Only to see if the game will run on my PC really.
If it does then I might buy it - If I download it and find it doesn't I Know never to buy it.

I am going to "Dope - No Regrets", mainly because there is not a SINGLE retailer in the UK that is even listing it.

Piracy was only cool when it was

"By the Scene, For the Scene"

and required not only downloading but uploading as well

I never pirate games and I suppose I'm against it, developers work hard for years to make them and it's only right to pay the admission fee, just read up on the game first to make sure it's worth it for you.

The only time I download a pirated game is when either:

A) The game isn't being sold anymore (Wolfenstein 3D, Doom I, Doom II, etc)

or

B) I bought the game legally but lost the CD

Other then that no.

I've only ever copied the original Half Life, Opposing Force, and AoE: Conquerers off of a friend, and that was a long time ago. While I would still be happy copying a game off of a friend, I am in general dead against piracy.

Rarely.

If a game is good, I will buy it. But the few games that I do get illegal copies of, I would never buy in the first place.
