Haha, yes that feeling of satisfaction of being way more awesome than them would be good haha. though i'd need a battering stick, to stop the grubby little 12 year olds from touching my beloved models! Though, with a combined total of around 200 models...it will take a while lol
With a collection that large: APOCALYPSE! Awesome extra special rules and formations.

Dark vs. Blood! Care for an 'I'm more loyal to the Emperor than you' bust up?!

I'll be getting a few Grey Knights as well so they can be the refs!
I've never really looked into Apocalypse, I moved onto Necromunda after the 3rd edition rules. I have so much to catch up on! xD haha

Also, What is the story behind the Tau? I never looked up the Codex but someone said they were made in the lab by the Eldar and others have said they appeared from the warp. I'm confused? :(
Undead Dragon King said:
The Tau are a native species of T'au, their homeworld on the eastern edge of the galaxy. The only interesting thing about their early development is that the Tau race as a whole evolved very rapidly into 4 distinct sub-species to better survive in the area of the planet they inhabited.

These subspecies eventually fought a massive war for dominance of T'au when they were technologically around the time of the Renaissance. The Ethereal Tau, a "Fifth" subspecies, then appeared and brokered a peace between the factions, and unified them under a single banner. The factions would become the four principle castes of the Tau: Fire (soldiers), Earth (manufacturers, laborers and scientists), Air (Messengers, Space captains and pilots), and Water (Diplomats). The Ethereal fifth caste were to be the leaders. The rest is history.

OT: For the Greater Good!
Also the whole Eldar thing is due to:
Early in Tau history (before modern Tau had evolved and when they were basically still animals) an Imperium fleet was on it's way to purge their worlds and claim them for the Emperor.

Before they could jump to the system it was shrouded in an Eldritch Storm making travel to it impossible. The storm raged for a few thousand years until the Tau emerged from it fully evolved. Guess which race is the only race that can make Eldritch storms and uses them a lot?......Eldar.

Tau also have a very faint warp presence compared to the other races. This makes them unable to properly warp jump (they slingshot in and out of the warp to travel), unaware and mostly unaffected by the Warp based entities (Demons/Chaos Gods/etc). To the point where in DoW:DC when Eliphas tries to taunt Brightsword psychically (like he did with other generals) the Tau can't hear him and complains "what is that buzzing on the comnet? Switching channels"

Basically they evolved because the Eldar shielded them possibly as a weapon against Chaos. It's a bit more complicated than that due to conspiracy theories about where the Ethereal Tau caste came from though.

A Hermit's Cave
I'm surprised no-one's mentioned Sisters of Battle:

In DoW1: Fire! Fire! Burn! Burn! Melta! Melta!

And they had the advanced base system which was always a life-saver.

In tabletop: Faithpoints... fucking faithpoints!

Test passed, my Abbess now has... a 2+ Inv save *middle finger*

Either way: Living Saint... regardless of how much you try to pummel her, SHE WON'T BLOODY WELL DIE!

Orks because there is nothing better than making an Ork Gargant out of a Mr. Potato head and calling it 'Da Tater Titan' with its creator of course being called Big Mek Spud...

Tyranids. They eat everything. Whole galaxies. They've done it before, and they'll do it here.

Space Wolves for the attitude, but as they aren't independently represented on this, I put in Orks. Great to paint and customisable. You laugh at them until you get a choppa to the knee

SPACE MARINES (DOW 2)
Living weapons of mankind and it's Emperor.
In my humble opinion the most epic faction in the Warhammer 40k universe.

Space Marines, all the way.

Looking at it from a lore perspective, just in terms of the numbers I love it how 1 space marine is worth practically millions of certain other races.

Plus units like the Dreadnaught and the Terminators are just too awesome. Since Ive been a small kid, the thought of them smashing their way through endless hordes of enemies and constantly beating impossible odds just made my spine tingle at the awesomeness of it all.

Played Space Marines in tabletop, and you might be unable to relate to them because this is different. There's something special about the tabletop game with collecting and massing an army. I play Chaos and SM in DoW2, mainly because I like the history of the "races". As a race for DoW2 though, what do you like in a race? Played the game since vanilla beta, might be able to give a few imputs.

A difficult decision, but Space Marines were my favourite race in DoW1, because they were the easiest to play. :p
1) Requisition Space Marines 2) Kill everyone. 3) Profit!

Tau are my favorite race, by far.

Peace through superior firepower, and dinosaurs.

tyranids definitly. though the way they are done in retribution, and dow 2 in general sucks.
nids are a hoard army, and dow 2 is about small squad based stuff, and the nids would have fitted in so much better in dow 1.
That?s generally the problem I have with them and the orks in DoW2.
Orks are my favorite army on the tabletop since 40k started and in general are very amusing. But I too haven?t really gotten the hang of them in the DoW games.

Other cool races are the (Chaos) Marines, Tau (I dig the robotech look), and The Lost and the Damned (I will never forgive Games Workshop for discontinuing them instead of expanding them).
