magic doesn't exist, people who carry swords get shot, and guns run out of bullets.

Magic. Considering there's time stop, invisibility, shield, AoE spells, summoning spells ..well the fight would be heavily in my favour even with disadvantages.
I have very little experience with guns and even less with swords, so magic seems like a good option, as I can also use it to protect myself and hastily escape if I get cornered.

I'd go with magic, because you didn't specify what kinds are available nor casting times. As others have mentioned, you could just make yourself invincible or stun your opponent at which point the fight is already over before it's really begun.
On the other hand, if we're going more by the Hellblazer version of magic (ie prep time and consequences), I'd go with swords. I've had several years of kendo practice and am actually decent with a sword. I've only used air guns three times at county fairs and, although my aim is good, I take too long to line up a good shot for it to work. Unless my opponent chose swords and ran straight at me, I would probably miss until they were too close for it to matter.

Fantasy weapons aside, the sword is the most efficient weapon when it came to hand to hand combat. A skilled user can use it to counter nearly all other weapon types.Souplex said:

Guns - Limited ammo doesn't ever exist. I kill guy with gun with my last bullet, nick his gun and proceed with further carnage = win!
