Have you seen how we pronounce "lieutenant"? I don't think any one can justify pronouncing "Lieu-ten-ant" as "Lef-ten-ant".Swollen Goat said:I'm in midwest USA and I say zee. You know why I don't say zed? BECAUSE THERE'S NO 'D' IN Z!
[sub]Don't get me started on 'colonel'...[/sub]
I say zed (being a Canuck), but I think zee makes more sense, else letters like b,c,d,e and g would be pronounced bed, ced, ded, ed, and ged. Doesn't sound right.Hashime said:Simple question, how do you pronounce the last letter of the english language? What region do you live in (optional)? (I want to see if there is a strong regional correlation)
The 'Alphabet Song' of which you speak is just based (along with Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Baa, Baa, Black Sheep) upon 'Ah vous dirai-je, Maman', a traditional French folk song.D-Mic said:Zed just screws up the alphabet song. "...QRS, TUV, W, X, Y and ZED." Just throws off the whole rhyme pattern it had going.
Lol exactly what I was thinking of! Awesome movie!Marmooset said:
I'm sort of the opposite. I prefer Zed, but since I'm 'merican, it'd be pretty pretentious for me to use it.Shapsters said:I say Zed, because I am a properly speaking Canadian, to be honest, Zee is more comfortable but I force myself to say Zed because its proper.
