Recently I stumbled down stairs to grab some new years snacks and the TV caught my eye. Someone had a New Years awards channel on and it was flicking through the top movies of the year. It was already at four.

4# Twilight: New Moon

"Wait- what?"

3# Up

"Okay that was pretty good. I wonder what one is? What else came out this year... *didn't pay attention for two* ...that's weird, but wasn't that only a preview?" Oh wait, I remember"

#2 Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

"Wasn't that the one where Luna had Infra-red glasses?"

#1 Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

"I should go complain about this on the internet even thought it doesn't actually matter to me."

So what do you think? What should have been the number one movie of the year, but before we began our rampant posting I would like to ask for a moment of silence as a part of the faith in humanity some of us may have still had fades away like an empty dream or shrivels up "Like a Raisin in the Sun".

DAMNIT! I thought this was about BOB. You know, Guardian 452!

Avatar was the #1 movie pour moi. Mediocre plot, but execution was brilliance.

I hope moviebob doesn't have a heart attack or something. Also, I already knew about twilight being number four because my little sister was downstairs cheering about it.

Although I liked Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, I wouldn't say it's the #1 movie of the year. And the less said about the Harry Potter movie the better.

Up and Harry potter were the only movies on that list that I enjoyed.

but Transformers at #1 and the fact that twilight is on the list at all?????

The standards of anything popular have deteriorated this year, maybe it will change next year....

Transformers was good, I enjoyed it. Not number one though. I think this went on how many people went to see them or the gross or something, not the overall rating or how good it was.

^ this is the only reason New Moon was up there, half the world's population of teen girls went to see it. ^

This does make sense, assuming that it's based on sales. Twilight and Harry Potter both have armies of fans who go to see them multiple times, there are a lot of people who think like Michael Bay and go to see a movie based on special effects, and Up is a Pixar movie, so it had to be good.2

After this and Nickleback winning best band of the decade, I no longer have faith in humanity.

Best movies of 2009:

1 - The Messenger. Amazing. The best acting I have ever seen in a movie. Both Woody Harrelson and Ben Foster deserve Oscars for this movie. A touching film which admittedly earns its way to number 1 on the back of the acting which is beyond perfect.

2 - Inglorious Basterds.

3 - Moon.

4 - District 9.

5 - Up in The Air.

Honorable mention to Avatar.

Those were the highest grossing films, but anyway:
#1:Zombieland
#2:Sherlock Holmes
#3:9
#4:Underworld:Rise of the lycans
#5:He's just not that into you
I'm not going to lie, this year for movies sucked.

Ice Age 3 is on DVD now, so I don't think so.

This is a HORRIBLE list.

My top:

1) Inglorious Basterds

2) District 9

3) Paranormal Activity

4) 9 (as in this 9 not this Nine)

5) Avatar
Hey Joe, remember all those Penguin movies? (ie Happy Feet, Surfs Up, March of the Penguins)

*In the mysterious year of 2011...* Hey Robo-Joe, remember all those Nine movies? (Just kidding, we won't have robots until you're already dead, the same with advanced life-support.)
