So, I caught my wife the other day watching Lady In The Water, again. I wasn't too thrilled with the movie, but she keeps coming back to it. It's how it contrasts a normal, residential life with the fairy tale that keeps invading it that keeps pulling her in. She manages to find an enjoyable quality in it, even if it got very poor reviews.

I know that that movie in particular is pretty hated by a lot of people, but I know she can't be the only one. So, let your shame fall away: what movies do you enjoy, even if every reviewer in the world disagrees with you?

The Village is the number one movie that everyone else seems to hate that I love - it genuinely isn't as bad as everyone makes out. I've also got to mention the amazing Murder Party:

I think Year One got bad ratings but I thought it was pretty funny. Especially the part when he tries to kill the cow.

I'm not ashamed to admit it, I quite enjoy some old girly movies like Pretty Woman and Runaway Bride. I love the film While You Were Sleeping, but that actually got some good reviews.

Kung Pow: Enter the Fist

I still can't get over the low score for this movie to this day.

I nearly died of laughter watching it the first time, and it's still quite funny now.

The 1995 movie "Hackers". Apparently the critics panned it--including Rotten Tomatoes, which gives it a mere 31%. But I remember when it came out it was enormously popular.

Fast forward though, and apparently most teenagers never heard about it. It's funny watching it these days, though, given how much technology has changed since they filmed it 18 years ago in 1994.

Damn good soundtrack, too.

That film has had so much stick over the years but I loved it in my youth.

I like-

Little Nicky
The Butterfly Effect
Transformers (on the other hand I hated 2 and 3)

I'm pretty sure I can name a few more but that all I got at the moment.

EDIT- I just remember-

Daredevil
The Last Action Hero
Speed Racer

I really liked The Island. It was a decent action movie that just wanted to have a little bit of depth. Plus it had Sean Bean, Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson in lead roles. I really don't get the hate towards it.

I also liked Event Horizon, but that's more of the whole concept of "The universe is fucked up and it wants us all dead"-kinda thing. I get why it's 'bad' in a reviewer's perspective, but skipping the part where this dude gets carved up by another dude I still manage to enjoy that movie every time I watch it.

EDIT: I also recently watched this thing called 'Monsters', and I liked it in the sense that I give props to the director for at least trying. I dig the concept he went with, it's just a shame he kinda messed it up. D:

I enjoyed the Prince of Persia film, Its not particularly deep or anything and it does stray pretty far from the games, but I still enjoyed watching it, Gemma Arterton being exceptionally beautiful is a plus too.

That's huge on my list. I think it has a truly great atmosphere. Also: Bryce Dallas Howard.

All of those movies, while girly, were generally well received. Try again. I mean seriously, Pretty Woman? It's a classic.

The closest might be Drop Dead Gorgeous. It wasn't particularly panned, but it's largely a cult movie.
