Two Worlds 2

Yeah....the voice acting was pretty bad, and the story wasn't anything special, but the game as a whole wasn't really that bad, It kind of had some charm to it

ADORE this game, but the reviewers shat on it pretty hard.
That game alone makes me want to buy a PS2 again REALLY REALLY BAD.

And IIRC Starwars: Galactic battlegrounds. It's age of empires 2 with a starwars skin, but I loved it nonetheless.
(seriously the AOE comparison isn't even hyperbole, it was almost a friggin carbon-copy)
Yep but it still a lot of fun and I loved them both. I wish they would make a new one. The SW universe is so open they could do anything. Plus I want to kill more gungans lol.
Yeah, I really liked the aesthetic of the buildings in the game though. Especially gungans. Something about that town center bubble was just.. nice
And the naboo. Loved their stuff too.
Trade federation... you know what i just loved every friggin faction. it just looked nice. And i wouldn't be surprised if disney licensed out the Galactic Battlegrounds IP to someone. That's their new direction for game making so at this point anything can happen, good or bad.

Another game that I really liked that a lot of people did not like is X3 Terran Conflict. Sure that game had bad voice acting and a steep learning curve. But it was sure fun to do trade missions and other things. I also like the dynamic universe to explore. That game was in some ways a hit or miss with some people.

I remember really enjoying Minority Report. That game was bad ass. Also Enter The Matrix. Once we got over the disappointment that we couldn't play as Neo I had a blast playing through it. The fight with the agent in the plane was awesome. Resident Evil 6 I thought got a lot of unfair hate when it came out but I think despite its cutsceney/action set piece/abandoning survival horror yadda yadda yadda it was still a good, enjoyable, perfectly functional game.

We can only hope. My 6 year old has watched all the movies and we are working our way through the clone wars. next step is cutting his teeth on something SW related but not too difficult or violent on the PC. So hopefully they put something out that we can enjoy together.

Duke Nukem Forever is all I can think of...I had a blast with it. Aside from blurry textures, I don't think the game even looked that bad. It had a lot of fun ideas that were executed averagely, but the shear amount of little things you could do kept the game fun the entire time. The only reason I can forgive reviews as low as it got was because it was a LLLOOOONNNNGGGGG wait for not as much payoff as it could have had.

Also magic was incredibly fun in some ways. I once made a rain of anvils (yes that is a spell) over my head and cast a self centered tornado to walk foreword with a anvil tornado around me, that sheared any melee enemies and blocked most ranged attacks.

-Any Koei Warriors game except Gundam and Fist of the North Star (which I haven't played FotNS, so I can't judge it).
-The first two Army of Two games.
-The Saboteur.
-From what I could play of Alpha Protocol, I'm probably in that camp, too. However, the game is borderline unplayable for me.
-The original Saints Row has a metacritic and gamerankings score of about 80, but it was hammered on release, so I'm going to include it. It was...Not great. I bought it used. But if I hadn't enjoyed it, I wouldn't have pre-ordered the next two.

Reviewers didn't like it often for its repetitive gameplay.
Did they...Did they never play a Pokémon game before?

I know the spinoffs don't have the same mechanics, but....COME ON!
The real hook for that game was the Story, and this is a Mystery Dungeon Game. I am not kidding you, it was incredible. In almost no other game has Time Travel existed without creating plot-holes. A twist that was highly reminiscent and well done like Bioshock's. And quite memorable characters. Also some very pretty sprite work.

Oh, here's one. SWTOR. It actually got good reviews, but we've seen how far reviews get you and praise fell off quick in the months after it was released. Anyway, I enjoyed SWTOR. It spoiled me as far as story goes, I can't play Guild Wars 2 or WoW with my wife without finding them severely wanting in the story department compared to the fun I had with her in SWTOR. Guild Wars 2 is more from a convenience perspective(their co-op experience is needlessly onerous). I also considered their PvP top notch until they dicked it all up in the first patch, now GW2 is my go-to for PvP. *sigh* I wonder if SWTOR has fixed the pvp they broke...

I would definitely recommend galactic battlegrounds then. Because I played it myself somewhere between 4 and 6 years of age (may even have been sooner and that was a part of what made me such a big starwars fan, AND an rts fan. You can probably find a download somewhere, but I dont know about a hard copy. Or just buy him Star Wars: Best of PC, since there's a mix of games that he can try out as he gets older.

Also, apparently galactic battlegrounds wasn't poorly reviewed, so I guess it doesn't count.

Damn now I want to go searching for that download because I remember that I lost my disk like a decade ago.

Daikatana, mind you I didn't think it was the best game of all time or anything, but I did enjoy it. Then I find out that people hated it. Supposedly it was so buggy that people weren't able to play/finish the game, the story was bland, and the combat sucked. Meanwhile I'm having a blast blowing crap up.

-Almost every non-Sonic SEGA game. Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, etc.
-NFS: Carbon. The old Need for Speed formula was showing it's age and staleness, but I really like the Crew statem and the car categories. It made it feel like a free for all for every type of supercar out there.
-Crackdown. It's repetitive, sure, but if I just want to shoot some bad guys it's my go to game.
-Dead Island. It would have been the definitive zombie game if it was released a few years earlier when zombies weren't stale.

NFS: Carbon is still my favorite game in the series! I still fire it up in between other games and driving sims just to have a wild drift down a canyon.

The other one I'm enjoying now is RE6, which I don't really see *any* problem with at all besides the fact that it's an RE title and franchise fans are a bit disappointed. Which I can understand, but taken on its own merits, the game is great. Once the camera was fixed, I found it offers a crapload more in terms of varied story and gameplay, lots of chapters, great controls, and insane replayability in online Mercenaries mode.

And finally, Kane & Lynch, both of them. The hectic shoot-your-way-out of everything scenarios, gun play and setup to all the missions I just found very enjoyable. Yes, the story is questionably immature in places, but overall I found it a blast.

I just finished playing The Force Unleashed II. Loved it. Nowhere near as good as the original, but damn fun all the same, and the challenge modes were a blast. I'm probably even going to play through it again, given it's pretty brief. Also, its DLC level is about $1.35, and that's on the Australian PSN. I mean, almost no-one could complain about DLC if it was priced like that all the time, I think.

Also, Dynasty Warriors is amazing.

New Vegas, not that the reviews weren't right about the bugs, but the game was worthwhile anyway.
That, and Obsidian did release patches that basically fixed most (if not all) of the bugs.

I also enjoyed Alpha Protocol, I didn't see any glitches that critics complains about. Litterally the only problem I had with this game was how many of the boss fights were frustrating as heck, that's it. I thought it was awesome otherwise.

I'm also among the few that enjoyed the 3D Sonic games.

Literally the only real gripe I had with a 3D Sonic game was playing Shadow The Hedgehog, and even then, it was only because of how the moral choice system sometimes causes the game to be repetitive when you're trying to get all the endings.

oh, and I also liked Fables II and III, and I was mostly ignoring the excessive hype that Peter Molyneux was giving it.

I quite liked Fable II and III as well. Didn't realize they were badly reviewed. III was nice for totally different reasons than expected (the sudden moodshift halfway through did a number, the whole running a kingdom thing was annoying). They're good fun and its nice to play a game where I can dress my character up instead of worrying about which pair of pants has the best stat bonuses.

ok ill bite;

dragon age 2: good game just not what people expected so of course they call it bad, as for the glitches they were the same ones from the first game and no one complained so much back then.

Too human: ok I dare you to play this game drunk and call it bad, its such a hoot for the dialog alone.

Mass effect 3: last 5 mins of a game was bad(which was fix with FREE DLC) so of course the game was bad and bioware is dead........

I could go on but im pretty sure this covers my taste.

X-Men Destiny. It wasn't a GREAT game by any means, but it was playable. And honestly, why was this the first x-men game I've seen to give you control of an unknown? I mean, every other game lets you play as Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Colossus, bla bla bla.... This game just threw that all out the window and made brand new characters with interesting powers and backstories that made them mildly to very conflicted about their new paths in life. The combat was fast enough that it never got stale, but allowed for any fighting style you wanted. Everything was really well streamlined. It was really railroad-y but it told a story. Not a Bioshock level story, but a decent one nonetheless.
