Popular games that you could never get into

I am not going to say Halo, because I could get into the first one. Though it was a mediocre experience, the game's climax made it so it was like sitting in a chair next to a fireplace with a cup of coco and a blanket. Eerie, relaxing, non-challenging no-brainier.

The games I could never get into, were Zelda games (I'm a Metroid kinda guy), Command and Conquer, Heroes of Might and Magic, Smash Brothers (How does one actually play it? The characters are totally uncontrollable) and that god awful Test Drive Unlimited.

(Jumps into the bandwagon) I'd have to say MW2. I was one that had it preordered and cancelled when I heard the raping it was getting on PC. So I did without. My bro in law got it on 360 so I said wth, lets try it out. 5 and a half hours later I was done.

I didn't even try playing online cause playing a FPS with a controller was bad enough, playing a FPS with a controller online is just kicking yourself in the balls. The fact that they justified selling it for 60 bucks plus tax when it was so short and so gimped is a joke.

Mass Effect, I tried it a few weeks after it came out but there was something about the controls that took me out of it. Admittadly I didnt give it much of a chance, but after all the hype for ME2 and the response I got on my topic I may be picking it up used this weekend and giving it another chance.

@populus 89: Ahem, SSB takes a little bit of practice, but after about an hour most of the characters should become pretty easy to play. Iv'e never played another game that managed "easy to learn, hard to master" so well.

@vault boy eddie: I would argue that in MW2 you got the same amount of content as you would get form any other game, but they took out all of the corridors full of enemies that are typicly used as filler.

Halo. It was my first Pc game, and i played it to the end, but god damn it pissed me off. Who thought it was a good idea after half way through the game to make your new main enemy be a horde of weak little gits that annoy you in their numbers instead of giving you more intelligent enemies? I was bewildered really.
I've had some good multiplayer games with it, but any game is good with a few friends. (mario kart 64 was king at this)

Any turn based game I usually find very hard to get into, mario and luigi being the sole exception. and pokemon.

1):Final Fantasy.
I honestly do not see why the series is so special.

2):Zelda
I don't know why, it just doesn't interest me. Majora's Mask was hailed as one of the best games in the universe, but i put down the controller after an hour of play time.

Perfect World. I'm adicted but not enough for me to get to know everything off by heart. I'm confused easily by the game and basically just play for the hell of it.

Little Big Planet (I appreciate it but I don't really enjoy it, I feel like it's more a process than fun.)

Obviously I haven't played every mainstream game out there, but I can't think of any I have played and didn't enjoy. Halo was good but not extraordinary, I love all the CODs, Final Fantasy, etc. I ahev purposefully avoided a lot of mainstream games that didn't look good to me, so that may be why I have little to say.

IDk it was such a big thing like 3-4 years ago but I never got into it. When Rock Band came around though, I then knew what I wanted in a game like that. But still I just dont like guitar hero.

FF7. It fucking sucks. And I like every other Final Fantasy besides 8 and the MMO. Oh GAWD, why did they do an MMO?

Maybe because FFXI was amazing. I wish every MMO could be like it.
