Call of Duty 6: I hate it for a combination of why I hate Fantasy 7 & Gears, and I also hate it for people thinking it's the second coming of Super Mario Brothers.
Sounds like you hate everything popular, except Mario Brothers. :U Honestly I love FFVII, but not because of the fanbase, I'm embarrassed to admit when it's a favorite of mine (it got me more into RPGs since it was my 2nd of it's kind. But these super fans "OMG SEPHIs MAH BISHI and he loves Cloud here's a picture I drew of them kissing" makes me want to microwave my game to keep away from being related in anyway to them. So I do think I see where you're coming from.

OT: Killzone and Killzone 2, I swear the guy in killzone 2 must have been made of a wet noodle the way he moved/aimed/threw grenades, it made aiming obnoxious. I desperately tried to play 2 to the end but I got too mad to continue. I don't see what makes people like it, it's a World War 2 shooter that takes place in space, which could have been amazing, I mean space Nazis means space Hitler.

No, I don't hate everything popular. Like I said I'm a fan of Halo. Uncharted, Killzone, and God of War also look good (except Killzone 1, I played that and it was just as bad as Gears).

I liked the look of the Call of Duty 4, and I really like the notion of them moving away from the Dubyah Dubyah Two. Assasin's Creed 2, Grand Theft Auto Four, and plenty of other popular titles look really good. The ones I listed however, don't.

World of Warcraft. Its not a bad game, its far from that. It just doesnt appeal to me.
Half-Life 2, I know, it was a very well made game, it inspired alot of other games and it is pretty epic, but I just didnt like it.
GTA games and Saints Row 1 & 2, I just dont like that kind of game, but it is extremely well made.

Kingdom Hearts 2. I played the first one and liked it. I played the second one, found myself doing the same things over and over again - worlds with Heartless! Pete is being naughty! - but then suddenly it all fell away and Organization XIII mattered, and I was confused. And if it all makes sense somehow, I still don't give a crap because of the FANGIRLS. Oh god, the FANGIRLS. They have ruined the game for me in ways I didn't think possible.

Sometimes I feel like people who hate popular games are just doing so because they see it as the alternative to being part of the larger mass, for instance Halo 3, wasn't a horrible game (granted it wasn't amazing either) but yet people flame it for being a terrible game. The way I see it is if you have to "nitpick" to give yourself justification that a game is bad i.e "I hate Halo 3 because it's not as good as Halo 2!" then just stop trying to hate a game.

everything with mario or zelda in it (for that matter everything from nintendo)
Really? Everything?

Daym, I didn't know it was humanly possible to hate Pokemon and Mario 64.

OT: I hate Oblivion IV, may be better on a PC though.

I think it has more to do with the fact that people manifest their hatred for the popularity of the game by hating the game itself. Like my example, I did not enjoy Dead Space. I didn't find anything interesting about. So of course I get a little ticked off when people insult my taste in games because OMG YOU DINDT LIEK DEAD SPACE?!

Just my theory on where all the pop game hate comes from.

Dunno about hate, but I think these are boring and completely overrated:
Halo series
Gears of War
Brawl
Starcraft
Team Fortress 2

A majority of the people in this thread just list popular games and add "These are all too generic."

I'm not saying it is impossible to dislike any popular game, but if you can't provide any reasoning or logical thought behind disliking it then I submit that your opinion is undereducated and unimportant.

Half life 2 episode whatever. It is not that it is bad, it is just one of the most average games I have ever played and remarkably popular for no discernible reason.
maybe because it is a sequal I am a HL fan and I agree the episodes arent the strongest parts in the series

Hate is a strong word, so I'll catagorize mine.
Hate:
Fallout 3 (the aiming mehenism outside of VATS was terrible, no color, ect.)
Call of Duty 4: MW (lack of color, little replay value, plenty of timed missions)

Dislike:
Portal (overrated, on the short side, not too much replay value)
GoW (lack of color, but i didn't even beat the first mission)
Not trying to be mean, but I never understood this. Why do people complain about games not having color? Do you really expect a war-torn desert city or a post-apocalyptic wasteland to be colorful?

I've tried multiple times to play it and get into it (mostly because of how much support Valve gives it), but after a day or two I just get bored and complete lose interest in it...
