Gears of War - Played Co-op for an hour and just could not get into it. The lack of colours really put me off.

Eve online - Too many damn menu screens and the tutorial was way too long.

GTA4 - Played it for a bit, thought it was alright, yet to see what was so groundbreakingly 10/10 about it. More colour than Gears of war, I'll give it that, but where's all the humor gone?

I'll probably start a flame war because of this, but MW2 in my opinion is just WAAAAAAAAY over-hyped. It's a good game and it seems to be the shit right now, but it seems to samey as the first modern warfare. The campaign is unoriginal and I have always detested the multiplayer of any CoD game, especially with this new feature of having to be in game chat for like, 80% of the matchmaking types, I mean sure, promoting teamwork is good and all. but there is a reason why many people don't like talking to their teammates

MW2 and, though I don't hate it, I've never understood the appeal of HL.

MW2 is fun, but for someone who likes multiplayer shooters on PC the effort for actually getting to stab someone isn't nearly as worthwhile as it was in CoD 4.

Assassins Creed. I found nothing about it compelling, the whole thing was just a little tedious really.

I really want to get across how much I HATE Gears of War. Everything about it is putrid and stock. The story is probably the worst part. Who are these muscular, neckless people? What are the Locusts, and what are they trying to accomplish besides world domination (Of Course!)? And what the hell is with that floating door-opening robot that seems to be able to teleport?
1. The locusts aren't just after world domination. it hasn't been made clear what they want but it seems to be becoming clear that they are, just like us, fighting for thier survival.

My guess is they were created by humans, hence the 'first' locusts in the test tubes in Gears 2.

2. The robot has a cloaking device. Duh.

3.The muscular meat men are the Gears, they are.... shock, horror... soldiers.

CoD games
Gears of War
Halo

Notice a pattern? I don't like shooters, those three series being the only franchises hyped enough for me to notice them.

(btw, you can love them for all I care but please dont try to force them on me)

DEAD SPACE.

Possibly the lamest horror game ever. How it got so popular I'll never know.
You go die.
You go die.
You go die.

I dont see a single problem with it.
Seriously, I dont.

And oh god the twist.
The twist was fucking awesome.

Halo 3 and MW2. All been done before and much, much better. And then all the BS reviews to please all the morons who pre-ordered the game, which is just leading to the stagnation of gaming & the beginning of the end.
This.

Halo 2 -you removed the iconic AR for some pos scoped shit-
Gears of War 2 -I hope we can find my wife...-

FIFA or Madden

Pratcicaly ANYTHING that's been called "Perfect" or "revolusinary" at least 2000 times made in the last 3 or so years. Sounds spasific, indeed, but a LOT of games fall under that area.

Mass effect
If i want to read so much text i'll get a book,
I finished it though but i cant remember why
Prototype is also very overrated, I liked it at first but the missions repeat themself and the combat gets dull

Call of Duty 6:
There is NO. SUCH. THING. as Call of Duty 6.

O.T. Halo Wars if that is still popular.

Call of Duty: 1-3, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty 5: World At War, Call of Duty 6: Modern Warfare 2.

There you go.

Sometimes I feel like people who hate popular games are just doing so because they see it as the alternative to being part of the larger mass, for instance Halo 3, wasn't a horrible game (granted it wasn't amazing either) but yet people flame it for being a terrible game. The way I see it is if you have to "nitpick" to give yourself justification that a game is bad i.e "I hate Halo 3 because it's not as good as Halo 2!" then just stop trying to hate a game.
A majority of the people in this thread just list popular games and add "These are all too generic."

I'm not saying it is impossible to dislike any popular game, but if you can't provide any reasoning or logical thought behind disliking it then I submit that your opinion is undereducated and unimportant.
I'm a little tired, so I may have misinterpreted your post, but if I read it right, then I completely agree.

Some games I'd rather not play, Halo and CoD are fine, but I can't play them for as long as my friends can in one session. GoW was OK on story as a mindless shooter, but what the f*ck was Cliff B-something thinking "People are just using the shotgun too much on multiplayer, so in the new one, you still spawn with it with enough ammo to last the entire game"

I think it has more to do with the fact that people manifest their hatred for the popularity of the game by hating the game itself. Like my example, I did not enjoy Dead Space. I didn't find anything interesting about. So of course I get a little ticked off when people insult my taste in games because OMG YOU DINDT LIEK DEAD SPACE?!

Just my theory on where all the pop game hate comes from.
I see where you're coming from, but I'm talking about the type of people who seem to just hate games, because "All the cool kids are doing it!" that sort of thing, I can't stand when somebody hates a game based on the majoritie's opinions.
