The same thing I say in every "how can I sleep" threads:

[spoiler/]Masturbate[/spoiler]

It will put you to sleep instantly.
Not that I'm asking 'How can I sleep', my method works perfectly, I just want to know what all the cliched answers were.

And then the Escapists answers. Because you guys are funny.
We are funny aren't we?

Well that's my answer. Jerk it and you fall asleep instantly.

Well it works for me anyway.
Hm. I need to do it twice. Perhaps I'm odd.

yeah, actually looking at a screen for a while before going to bed (especially close up, like handhelds or laptops) make it hard for me to fall asleep for a while.

Just have a decent amount of alcohol. Puts me to sleep if im not doing anything exciting along with it
If you want to drink yourself to sleep, go for it. I know I have in the past. DO NOT recommend it to others, however. Alcohol for sleep has really really bad long term consequences.

OT: Meditation , exercise, build a proper sleep schedule (which may mean no sleeping in, possibly ever depending on your physiology), there are other good natural ones but I forget....

Oh yeah, sex and massages.

I listen to Sigur Ros.
If that doesn't work, I focus on my breathing. Three counts breathing in, four counts breathing out.
This is very calming and it helps me shut up the voices of my mind if they just won't let me sleep.

That just makes me feel guilty, then I can't get to sleep.

Your ambient body temparuture needs to drop 2 degree's before you doze off, goes back to living out in the wild, hot bath and then 20 minutes later you'll fall asleep.

Watch what you eat before bed. Dont eat too much.
Make sure you have had some kind of exercise that day so that your body is tired.
A nice cup of chamomile tea helps.
Also, if you need to sleep earlier than usual and you dont have a busy day planned, eat less food. Like, a lot less. Just some vegies, nothing too heavy or anything that will give you too much energy.
And have a routine before you go to bed.

While many are good suggestions for helping to sleep ('specially the one julian mentioned) there's only one thing for me that guarantees sleep no matter what i do to prevent it:
9 o'clock geology lectures.
(have you ever fallen asleep in the middle of writing something down? how does a brain go straight from conscious to dozing instantly?!)

they say sleep is the cousin of death, so kill yourself, you'll sleep just fine.

(Not a insult.)

Banana + Milk. I read about it in some list of sleep-inducing foods, apparently it works for the same reason Turkey does.
