No you didn't, you didn't get the £28 of what is likely already on the game disk. Stop crying about how you got a shitty deal.
I'm... I'm sorry, what? Who is crying about a shitty deal here? I'm completely satisfied with my purchase, you seem to be the one whining about how you got cheated out of some hats.

Except it's not DLC. It's a fluff shop. That's a completely different thing. Yes it's overpriced and all that crap but no one forces you to buy an emote or hat for co-op.
Consider it more of an donation for the devs that get's reward with in-game items. Don't like it - show it with your wallet and don't buy it.

Did you even READ the first post?
They aren't complaining about the game, or the content of the game, or the soundtracks, or the characters in it- they're complaining about DLC in the game, that doesn't affect the game in any way but cosmetic if you buy it, which you don't have to.

Yeah, great reason for a 0/10 guys!
Yep I read it. I think think the reason people are rating it poorly is because they didn't like it. Do you even READ the metacritic reviews he's talking about?

Some people aren't happy with the length of the game, the difficulty, the old forced humor... It's not JUST about DLC.
Most of the people just keep repeating that the game was 4 hours long, which makes me suspect that they are trolls. This game was in no way 4 hours, it would have been if you were to rush it with a speed run but at a regular play time this game is at least 7-8 hours long.

Troll inbound.
And a shitty one at that.

It is not game content, it is meaningless skins.

If you are going to let something that literally does NOTHING to affect your enjoyment of a game whatsoever stand in the way of you playing it, you'll go down in my books as someone who... well, as someone who does just that.

You get the full story, and the full co op campaign. The £30 you lay down for Portal 2 buys you the full game.

Bill Bread said:
Jesus, you people...

When you buy a game, you should get THE WHOLE THING. Not £30 worth, and have £28 worth missing, it should ALL be yours. You bought it.
You guys don't have a clue.
WHAT'S THIS?!

Just because people disagree with you they don't have a clue? Oh you Valve haters.

Oh, and remember... report button, you cheeky little thing!

[sub]For anyone else who sees this, yes I am mocking him for one of his replies to me. You have my permission to mock him also.[/sub]

Its just fucking hats people. Seriously, are hats and costumes so god damn important to you that it makes the game inherently worse?

WAAAH! WE DON'T GET PURELY COSMETIC ITEMS FOR FREE! VALVE AND PORTAL 2 TOTALLY SUCK BECAUSE OF THIS! WAAAH!

Jesus, its one thing to be pissed about hefty content being released for a price at day one, but some fucking hats and skins? Come on.
In light of this comment, I will not file a HR complaint about you touching my penis with your penis.

WOOP.

Some of you people don't know what "Day 1 DLC" is.

Yes, it's already on the disc. And if you buy the game new, you don't have to pay one extra penny for it.

Day 1 DLC is only a problem for people who buy games used.

Have you guys not seen the screen-cap from /v/ specifically stating that they were going to metabomb Portal 2 (for whatever reason, it is 4-chan after all).

Haters love to hate. Cliché as all hell, but it applies here as much as anywhere else.

It is pretty clear what they are irate about.
Don't have a false sense of superiority either, /v/'s a shit ton smarter than a lot of users on this board.

These kind of things have been in games as unlockables since at least NES, but now that DLC exist we have to pay for it. Yes other games have done it before and I have been just as annoyed by them, but now there are a big minority of games that agrees with me and that pleases me. There are good reason to be angry about this trend to have less and less content in games even it's just some small as different skins. Why because it, in my eyes, show what is wrong with concept of DLC it's not used to give extra content but to sell what should have been in the product from the start.

newsflash, /v/ isn't a hivemind. If someone comes here and tells you to do something, you don't rush off to follow orders.

I think people are quite happy with the game, just not the completely optional and useless DLC that no one is making them buy.

Or maybe just not understanding what we're talking about...

You, like all the other valve defence force commandoes ITT, just don't get the point. It shouldn't BE DLC. When you buy a game, you should have everything, not get a 'surprise! we didn't give you the full content of the game' message.

They can say "that chunk is worth 60 dollars", but ultimately it's the consumer that decides what is and isn't worth $60.
Yes. And the customers decided by buying the game which didn't list "Additional cosmetic items included" at any point. Did Gabe came to someone's house, put a gun to their head and forced them to buy Portal2? No? Thought so.

If you've got all that content ready on day 1, it should be on the disc. Whether that's as unlockables or rewards or whatever, if you've got it ready when you're done with the game then it should be on the disc because when I pay that much money, I'm expecting the complete experience, not most of the experience with an extra price tag on the rest of the bits.

Now, DLC that's released 3 months down the line, I have no problem with.
Can you give me one valid reason as to why it should be given to you for free? Only because it was done? So following that logic if a developer works on 2 games and both are ready at same time, no matter which of them you buy you should get the other one for free?

You must realize DLC, especially in case of purely cosmetic stuff, is like receiving a bumper sticker for donating 5$ for an organisation because you consider that what they do is worth additional support.

Personally i don't give a damn about hats or textures for the co-op robots. I bought a game and i got the game i paid for. I don't love Valve enough to pay them any more so i won't buy the cosmetic junk. My choice.

My feelings:
1) This ISN'T day 1 DLC, as DLC implies content. This is microtransactions. NOT THE SAME THING.
2) It is incredibly stupid and annoying on Valve's part, as it's clearly a nod to how they want to make money, but they're a company so whatever.
3) YOU PEOPLE THAT USED MANN CO ARE ENTIRELY TO BLAME.

So, #3 sums it all up. If you used the Mann Co store and are bitching about this, you are a hypocrit of the highest calibur and need to stop talking.

Day 1 DLC = missing out on some game content AND having characters in the game try to tell you to go do buy it (DA:O) = FUCKING TERRIBLE

Day 1 DLC = buy some new skins = FUCKING FINE AS FUCK SO FUCK OFF WITH THE FUCKED SCORES (lol)

But seriously, the "day 1 DLC" isn't an all encompassing thing. If we're talking content specifically excluded from the game like a whole chapter or whatever, then yeah that's a kick in the nuts. But we're talking about some stupid costmetic shit! WTF! Not to mention all these bombers have so obviously not even played the game (3 hours to beat it! HURP DERP!) when the average response I've seen is at least 5-6 hours. Not a long single player game obviously but at least they didn't charge $60 either!

Plus there's all the co-op.

Plus who knows if you can unlock some type of skins on your own when you beat things?

Regardless of where the movement started, I would say it's still a topic worth discussing particularly given the ingrained views about both Valve and Day 1 DLC on this site.

I never said they weren't total dicks for doing it.
