Wait for some reviews. The pre-order item is horrible anyway, so you might as well sit it out for a bit.
But if you get the PS3 version you can share the cost with a friend or something if they want the PC version, no (or vice versa)? I thought they came bundled? I may be wrong on this?sir.rutthed said:

What I can give as advice is:
1. If you have the intentions of completing the almost identical maps in multiplayer over and over again (like for instance L4D/2) you will like the multiplayer, because it wont be anything different. It will be fun the few first times, but after that when you continue seeing the same things over and over you'll probably stop playing it and then you are left with...
2. A story. Which probobly won't be good. Sure, it will be epic and funny like the first, but really how many times can you go pass the same story with 1 ending for 60 bux?
It's your call, I say go pirate on the game and play it, then if you like it buy it.

The problem with this is that you only get the Ps3 hard copy, and the digital copy of the PC one is automatically linked to what ever steam account activates the game on the PS3.justnotcricket said:

Even if you're homeless you should have a pretty damn good go at trying to get it.
O.K in all seriousness, this game looks pretty damn good and heck if i were you I'd buy it even if it was just single-player with a little bit of extra length and new challenges, the game was brilliant before and even if it's short it'll be the best bit of short fun you'll have for quite awhile i expect.
Plus the co-op looks pretty damn good, and I wouldn't be surprised if they stuck on a few DLCs later on to add extra content etc.

Nahh, I think it's pretty reasonable to harbour doubts after Left 4 Dead as a series offered slightly poor value-for-money, content-wise. But, as this thread shows, these doubts are easily exterminated... with extreme prejeduice.MasterSplinter said:

Well I would certainly buy it on launch at full price, but I won't be able to play it for another month or so anyway, so I'll wait till then, hoepfully it'll get its first price drop.
Singleplayer is 6 hours I believe, and co-op is 6. And the standard for completing Portal was 3-4 hours for most people.Belgian_Waffles said:

They could charge me twice the amount and I'd blindly buy the game. From the videos, it's fucking hilarious, and has new mechanics and awesomeness that I loved in the original.

Remember when the platform was sliding into the fire pit and I said "Goodbye" and you were like "No way!" And then I was all "We pretended we were going to murder you?" That was great!

Certainly a poor game length to investment ratio (assuming it's about 5-6 hours), though the awesome brilliance to investment ratio stand a fair chance of making up for it.

I'd say it's worth about 2 copies of portal 1, which by today's prices, means it should be free.
