... The source engine runs stupidly smooth on even the shittiest of systems. I highly doubt they had to hold anything back to get it to run on consoles. Maybe you forgot, but Portal 1 was available on consoles as well.Stabinbac said:The loading was rather annoying, but it's one of the sacrifices they made for consoles.
It's still one of the best games ever, but it could have been so much more if they had let themselves actually design the game to push PC hardware. Not trying to be an anti-console troll, but if you actually look at the level design the choices made are obvious.
Larger levels, and more involved puzzles would have made the game longer, more satisfying, and reduced the loading annoyance.
Still an amazing game.
Yes see, it isn't a big issue. Its just a minor annoyance. They could either load the way they do, or load like the first Portal. Does it make a difference to actual gameplay? Not in the slightest. Is it a personal preference? Most certainly.Woodsey said:They were noticeable for a while, and there was a couple of points where they did bug me (load to fall down a tube, fall down tube for a bit, load to land), but they were all really quick so it didn't exactly destroy the game.
Uhh, are you in the right thread? The way your post is worded, it seems like you were aiming for this thread.Baneat said:Valve pretty much invented the no-cutscene storytelling with a silent protagonist. I'm pretty sure they're even more aware than anyone how irritating the cutscenes are, which means there's probably a justifiable reason for them to be there.
Yeah it was, but it applies to this too if you change it from cutscenes to loading screens, by a weird coincidenceSoviet Heavy said:Uhh, are you in the right thread? Interesting. Because it does make sense in a certain context here, but the wording implies the latter thread.Baneat said:Yeah it was, but it applies to this too if you change it from cutscenes to loading screens, by a weird coincidenceSoviet Heavy said:Uhh, are you in the right thread?
