Ah, come on. Is this really a complaint? I have it on 360, arguably the worst version and each loading screen takes about 10 seconds.

The loading was rather annoying, but it's one of the sacrifices they made for consoles.

It's still one of the best games ever, but it could have been so much more if they had let themselves actually design the game to push PC hardware. Not trying to be an anti-console troll, but if you actually look at the level design the choices made are obvious.

Larger levels, and more involved puzzles would have made the game longer, more satisfying, and reduced the loading annoyance.

Still an amazing game.
... The source engine runs stupidly smooth on even the shittiest of systems. I highly doubt they had to hold anything back to get it to run on consoles. Maybe you forgot, but Portal 1 was available on consoles as well.

The levels were huge. FAR bigger than they were in Portal 1. I don't know how much bigger you want.

Seriously, I'm all for PC gaming. I bought Portal 2 on PC. I play every game I can on my PC. But this is one game I don't think you can drag the console vs. PC battle into.

I was actually quite surprised they didn't do any pre-loading since the end chamber and start chamber are near the same and quite a few seconds before you get from/to the important bits, squeezing load times between those transitions seems feasible.

Probably is an engine limit they didn't feel like changing for a minor improvement, but it's a missed opportunity.

They were noticeable for a while, and there was a couple of points where they did bug me (load to fall down a tube, fall down tube for a bit, load to land), but they were all really quick so it didn't exactly destroy the game.

Yes see, it isn't a big issue. Its just a minor annoyance. They could either load the way they do, or load like the first Portal. Does it make a difference to actual gameplay? Not in the slightest. Is it a personal preference? Most certainly.

To the rest of you, thank you for proving to me that my opinion is apparently wrong. Because I obviously don't know what I'm talking about and Portal 2 is an unkillable masterpiece that should not be criticized in any way at all.

Valve pretty much invented the no-cutscene storytelling with a silent protagonist. I'm pretty sure they're even more aware than anyone how irritating the cutscenes are, which means there's probably a justifiable reason for them to be there.

Uhh, are you in the right thread? The way your post is worded, it seems like you were aiming for this thread.

Yeah it was, but it applies to this too if you change it from cutscenes to loading screens, by a weird coincidence

Interesting. Because it does make sense in a certain context here, but the wording implies the latter thread.
