ok so i'm on meta critic and i'm looking though the reviews for portal 2. and two things strike me, first of all people are saying the game took the "3 hours to beat", i mean i haven't played it yet (i inted to buy it when i have the funds) but surley they must just be lying. the amount of content can not be able to wizzed though in three hours. and secondly i found people were judging it on the offers coming with the game, such as the day one DLC and they were not properly juding the game purley the controvercy around it. surely this is just people being ridiculos.

3 things:

1. Learn to spell and capitalize.

2. I thought this would somehow involve the co-op.

3. It's not 3 hours. Not even close. But they do have a (slightly) legitimate complaint in the case of Day 1 DLC.

You are questioning the logic of people you refer to as trolls?

Portal 1 took me around 3 hours to complete the first time, and I can now do it in just over an hour. Valve claim that Portal 2 is around three times the length of Portal, so 3 hours is feasible if people know what they are doing. It is also possible strategy guides were used.

After DA2, you should know by now to ignore things such as this, as people will frequently attack a companies policy as opposed to the games content when it comes to online reviews.

Of course it is ridiculous, gamers frequently are, we are the most self entitled whiners in existence.

It is mostly people who can't distinguish the difference between Day 1 DLC such as quests and companions from DA1 or any other Project Ten Dollar game and the handful of skins that have been Mann-Conomized into Portal 2.

Don't take my word for it, but apparently a large portion of the trolls are part of a group from 4chan just bombing the score for the hell of it.

And here I was thinking you were about to go off on the wikipedia page of Cave Johnson. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cave_Johnson]

Funny how people substitute 'troll' for 'someone who doesn't think what I think'.
Except it is trolling, because no one is complaining about the the game, the content of the game, the soundtracks, or the characters in it- They're complaining about something that doesn't affect them the slightest which they are not forced to buy in order to add to the game.

It's just
A bunch
Of hats.

Nothing more.

I'm entitled to be irate if I'd spent £30 (or more) on a game and then find that there's £28 more of stuff that I wasn't allowed. It's a slap in the face. Valve used to be the flagship developer for PC, now its image is well and truly sullied.

Except they are trolls, because as the OP demonstrated, they aren't using facts in their reviews of the game. A good portion of them probably haven't even played it.
A large majority of Escapist posters and arguments against JRPGs lack facts, but I didn't hear anyone calling them trolls.

There truly is a double standard on the Escapist when it comes to Valve and Bioware, as is clearly evident when they get bad-mouthed.

Hell, I was so happy to hear legitimate DA2 complaints. It meant the Escapist was growing out of it's "mindless fanboy" phase. Now that Valve is under attack, it seems it's sinking back.

Not really, that's the price of the rest of the DLC if you buy it 'as a deal'. It's more if you buy it individually.
"you can buy everything currently available at 56% off for ?only? £28, instead of £63." [http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/04/19/robots-need-hats-portal-2-has-a-store/]

Note my response in the DLC backlash thread. There's zero DLC available that adds actual content. So you must be a real fashionista (or however you spell that stupid term) in order to consider purely cosmetic items 50% of the game's content. Ridiculous.
Could you refresh my memory as to what this day 1 DLC is?
the only thing i've seen was the extra skin for buying the potato sack, surely thats not what everyone is on about?

So if I bought a car, paid £5000 for it. Then after I bought it got told I could upgrade my car to have rear parking sensors, I am being ripped off as they should have been included in the car to start with? After all, I expect a complete car when I put down my hard earned cash don't I?

Except of course you don't need those sensors to drive the car, they are completely optional.

If you felt Portal 2 was a rip-off because you didn't get extra hats for your Co-Op characters then what can I say?

According to my steam stats, I've been playing the game for over five hours and I'm on the second to last chapter, so I'd expect that I could have it done in about 6, maybe 6 and a half hours. While a little shorter than I was expecting, this has been an EXTREMELY high quality 5 hours so far. Add on the 3-4 hours of co-op missions with the promise of user-generated content and I'm quite satisfied with my purchase.

I suppose it's possible to beat the campaign in 3, maybe 3 and a half hours (if you're doing a speed run), but to say the game only had 3 1/2 hours of content is just asinine.

The Day 1 DLC I could give less than a shit about as it's all purely cosmetic and therefore not required for me to enjoy the game. If someone wants to buy a new skin for $5 or an animation for $2, more power to them.

What an utterly terrible analogy.
