I would say the PC version is worth the price. Some people have already started making maps, and there will be a lot more once the DLC is released.

If you're buying it on a console, and aren't necessarily a fan of the original, I'd wait until the free DLC is released, because there will probably be a discount.

For me: Totally worth the money. Especially, since I got the PC-version with my ps3 copy.

I paid 50 Euro for it, and I finished the single player campaign in a little over 5 hours. That works out to about 10 Euro an hour. The five hours were really fun, but I do wish that the game was more substantial, given the price.

Your coffe cup analogy was both terrible and completley unnesecary. I'm not sure why you felt the need to use such a lengthy analogy when you are disccusing a pretty simple concept; you didn't feel like Potal 2 was worth the money you paid for it.

I have not bought Portal 2 yet because of precisely the same reason. I don't feel it's worth the cost it is at now. I've brought this up before and been flamed on it but that's my opinion.

I'll probably check it out once the price drops and when free DLC comes out.

Considering that it's multi-platform, is going to have free DLC and is essentially two games in one (single player and co-op are totally separate stories) I'd say yes

I have never been more satisfied with a full price game purchase

With the new maps coming too, things can only get better

What... You don't like metaphors? Analogies? You must not be a writer then. I am. I like to write, as do some people who frequent these boards. Also, you didn't have to read the whole thing. I did put a TL:DR at the end if you didn't wish to.

TL:DR - Okay.

Yeah, I don't know that I would have paid that much. Fortunately I only paid $35, which is just about right. The game isn't really replayable at all. They should have included a free room with a bunch of stuff you could just screw around with.

But we'll wait and see what they bring out with DLC.

I like when my $50 cups are at least a large... lol.

But yeah this is why I haven't bought it yet. Not even that I'm strapped for cash (per se) but I'd rather make an attempt at "speaking with my wallet." You know, that thing that we gamers are notoriously terrible at?

Everyone has pretty much said all that needed to be. This is one of the few cases where the quality is so great that the quantity really doesn't matter. It's short but honestly I can't think of a better way to spend that short amount of time in video games in this console generation.

And I got maybe 10 hours of gameplay out of single player (admittedly I spent a lot of time searching for secrets and easter eggs because there are a lot of them) and I've got maybe 4 or 5 hours out of the Co-op and I haven't finished it yet. That's not a bad length really. It just doesn't have a replayable multiplayer component.

All I can say is I payed £40 for this game I don't regrett it, at all.

EDIT: I would say if you want to wait for the price to drop...you won't have to wait long. It's already dropping like crazy and there are already a lot of pre-owned copies out there from all the people who got all they can from it.

Did I think it was worth it? Yes. Absolutely.

It was the best game I played in years, so the shortness thing didn't bother me all that much.

And I never buy games at full price. I think the last time before this was Twilight princess. No wait, that was a christmas gift. So uh, Wind Waker I guess.

I feel it was worth every penny. Two copies of the game as well as being to do multiplayer, I'm impressed. And level DLC is going to be free.

I write quite often actually. It's becuase of this I am bothered by your completely unnecessary analogy. It's entirely pointless and doesn't help to get your point across, and if anything hinders it.

And being a writer has nothing to do with liking metaphors and analogies.

Valve is one of the few game companies which I can gladly hand my money over. After playing Portal 2, I think they really deserve the profit and I think the price is fine.
Making a quality game like this ain't cheap.

I'm gonna go with "worth it". However, I haven't played a whole lot of games, and this was the first I'd bought at full price since... 2004ish, and most of my games are from GoG. So my perception of quality may be a little skewed.
