Source has a naturally low FOV
However, having played CSS for so long at the default FOV made me essentially immune to any and all motion sickness from playing Portal :v

Certain games do it to me. I can't remember their names because I generally play them for 10 minutes than never touch them again. I know it's not exclusive to FPS though.

When i first loaded up Deus Ex: Human Revolutions, i could only play for about 10 minutes at a time before filling very very ill. But after a couple tries at it i was fine and blasted through it like a human superstar.

Never had a problem with Portal but I can see why it might make some people dizzy. I've played lots of games where you're walking over the walls and having the camera go all over the place, maybe that normalised it a bit for me.

For a second I thought you were saying Portal 1 was awful, and I totally expected a massive flame war.

Sorry to hear that though. True though I've felt occasionally nauseous when playing Portal 2

Nope, I'm generally fine with Portal and majority of games, might just be you maturing?
I just had to interrupt with something completely off-topic to say that you have, by far, one of the greatest avatars I have ever seen on this entire website and on the internet is a whole.

I'm saving that to my PC, so I can use it the moment your back is turned.
Haha, I typed in epic face because I needed a new lock screen for my phone, saw the photo and had a Booshgasm, I use it for practically everything, I get so much respect for it :'-) (sorry I went off topic mods D:)

You do not wanna miss out on Portal 2 no matter how sick you get, the game is an make of art and truly utterly amazing..

I suggest you just take it in minor dozes then, cause you should really not miss out on such a great experience..

Nope, never, not even Mirror's Edge. It's possibly because I'm usually so immersed in a game that I don't get problems with orientation or maybe I'm just not really prone to motion sickness. Who knows?

I dunno as I have this weird thing where certain film grains and filters do it, means I cant watch things like the warriors or play max pain as I get intense migrains and sickness. At the mo I'm renting dark sector and I cant stomach it for longer than a couple of hours because it's awful and it makes me feel like shit. But portal? No I was fine with that

Is there a way to tweak it? I presume it's either hidden in the source options menu or as a command line option.

Only game that happened to me in was Amnesia because of all the insane stuff they do to the camera. On the plus side it gives me an excuse to avoid playing it :D

Descent but that's about it. After playing that you get accustom to it and more tolerance for motion sickness.
This. When I was a kid i got motion sickness from that game. Haven't tried it in years so can't tell how it is now.
