anyone related to PR and management thereof, plus what above poster said. one who wears a different mask for the sake of pleasing others, not him or herself.

Seriously, a poser is someone who pretends to have something he doesn't have, or pretends to be something he is not.

I actually see it as the complete opposite as someone who acts differently to everyone else in order to be unique and get attention from everyone. I did it for a while wearing bright coloured clothes and singing out loud while walking it was brilliant for a while with everyone constantly fascinated by me and chavs staying clear out of my way

This.

But not only to just fit in (Though I'd say that's the majority of them), but to also try to be something they aren't, whether it's 'in' or not.

Slightly, only slightly, off topic, did anyone see the new South Park episode 'The Ungroundable', where butters becomes a vamp kid? Oh my...hilarity ensued.

hmmm... A Poser is someone with a completely different attitude, style, and personality trying to be something on the far other side of the spectrum.

Let's use some examples.Remember, this is just my opinion.

Jeff is a nice kid. He likes some classic rock, he's got a short hair cut, very pale, and generally nice to people. Then one day, Jeff is talking to friends, and he keeps on calling everyone Dog. Now to Jeff, Jeff is the mac daddy pimp whatever you want Jeff to think of himself. BUT, To everyone else, Jeff is fucking annoying at this point. Very very very annoying. Jeff changes nearly NOTHING about him to make him more "Gangsta" but yet, he talks like he's fixing to cap someone. I mean, this was Jeff, the nice kid from the block. Now he wants to be a Baller? Everyone is soon disgusted with Jeff's actions and call him a poser. Now Jeff is an outcast. But hey, Jeff's cool! Jeff's mom says he's cool.....

The one that riles me up is the fake two layered skater tops. Now I occasionally wear the long sleeve under the short sleeve tee combo. I like it. The boring shitty long sleeve get sweaty and the cool t-shirt stays fresh. It's also warm. I've never skated in my life.

The fake ones, which is just a long sleeve tee with different coloured sleeves and layered to look like a separate article underneath. That's poser territory. It's not a 'good' look but it is practical. So what they've done is take the useful elements of the item and throw them out. 'Tards.

The fake layers? Really? I never thought of that, I have some of those... but I like them cause they're comfy. I would say its convienence territory of looking good, not poser territory of tards

...see, that'd fit me. I always 'looked' like a skater, but rarely did.

I just bought the clothes i liked the look of, rather than being dictated to what i should like based on my music choice.

I'm my own person, me. Never given a shit what anyone else thought.
No no i didn't mean to offend you. I meant that if the kid looks like a skater and ACTS like one.

I suppose it would be people going out of their way to prove their individuality. Like when emos claim the world's against them for being different.

I love to imitate people. I can change my voice to a wide variety of types, and I love doing impressions of people since I'm good at it and it makes my friends laugh. I don't call myself a poser since I'm still me at the end of the day. If I pretended to be someone all the time, THEN I would be a poser.

What about those T-shirts with the dog, that say things about the wearer being "Tuff" or "Hott"?
or "Big Dawg"?

A 400 pound woman wearing spandex shorts that say Hottie across the ass, there really should be a law against that type of eye rape. Just go to any Wal-Mart you will see things that will give you nightmares, oh yeah, also emo kids or as I refer to them Goth-lite.......

Either: Tries to act like others to fit in or tries to act completely opposite to be "different" and "unique", like Emo's who all think they are unique, and will not stop telling you that they are.

I don't understand where you're getting at, but I'm assuming it's about 'conforming against conforming'.

Anyway, if I misinterpreted it, I might be a poser. Eww...
