I don't understand where you're getting at, but I'm assuming it's about 'conforming against conforming'.

Anyway, if I misinterpreted it, I might be a poser. Eww...

If you act differently just so you can say you are different etc. then you are a poser. But if you just act comfortably then you're not a poser.

3. Snobby kids that never earned anything in their lives, but act like they have so much worth to humanity.

Example: A kid who dresses all in black and tries to hang out with the goth kids, but does not listen to Goth music, read Gothic literature or understand what the subculture is actually about.

Personally don't get why you would want to do this. I wear what I want, I listen to what I want, and I act however the hell I want to act. If people don't like it, it's their problem.

Wait, do you mean like when people do it in a fun manner? Like I have on a few occasions thrown a "gangster" mannerism into an intellectual conversation, mostly because then you can tell if the person is paying attention.

Ya, I consider in large emo kids to be posers. I don't know they just annoy the shit out of me. I wear black shirts everyday, is it to fit in? No I just don't like how I look in colored shirts, I know I have a LOT of strange little "peeves" if you will.

Yeap, you pretty much nailed it right on the head there. I think that's the reason I don't like the emo kids. Pretty much if you have seen "the ungroundable" that's how I feel about this whole thing.

I think the whole condition boils down to people wanting to point at other people and call them posers, while failing to realize that they themselves are most likely posers.

I don't think that's the point. I think those people aren't posers, but the ones who do that kind of thing so people will like them is posing. If all my friends like pizza, and I say I do, and I actually enjoy pizza then I am not a poser. But If I say I like Pizza so my friends will like me more then I am a poser. It doesn't matter which group you belong to, only that you actually belong.

Sorry about the food analogy, I'm hungry.

Being a conformist is not being a "poser." All humans conform to some degree and it is our nature but while a conformist will like a band thinking "everyone else likess them they must be pretty good" or thinking something looks good because that is the public opinion a "poser" will say "hey everyone is liking this emo band, maybe if i dress and act like that instead of myself everyone will like me as well."

This includes, but is not limited to, listening to music that they wouldnt normally listen to, always agreeing with what other people say, regardless of how they feel on the subject, doing what other people do in an attempt to be cool, even though they wouldnt normally do it. They will also follow the latest trends, even if they dont like it.

I do have to admit that I wear a t-shirt, hoodie, overcoat combo as worn by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck in Dogma. That's a bit poser-y.

I think it's the cliques people are reaction against here. No one should dress like a stereotype to fit in. Anyone who pops a shirt collar goes to hell. It's fine on big winter coats when it's cold out but otherwise, straight to hell.

Avenged, KSE and Trivium have some great metal albums out. I know I'm a metalhead and I do have a complete discography of these bands. I may not adore every album but I have still given them a listen.
