I happen to think Mobile Suit Gundam Crossfire is fucking awesome (critics, internet, ect)

I actually liked the Jimquisition from the start and didn't really find anything particularly objectionable about it (the Escapist)

I, like a few posters here, am fond of the Halo franchise on an intellectual and gameplay level, and don't care for the bullshit that Yahtzee and Movie Bob went on about it. IE "Halo is generic (forgetting that it's others copying it that determined what "generic" is" and "It's racist, the humans are fascists" (forgetting that the UNSC operates like a standard western military organization, and is authoritarian by default)

I really liked Outcasts too, It was a shame it didn't get renewed.

I love Legend of the Seeker, So freakin' cheesy.

I like eating Heinz canned pork and beans despite how gross they are.

KFC chips are the better than McDonald's chips.

I like Windows 7, It's easy to use though I use Opera for my browser.
wait what...since when the fuck do mcdonald's have chips?
Fries, they're called chips in the UK (as in fish&chips)

Final Fantasy VIII is at least #3 best Final Fantasy game in the series. It's got great characters, a nice aesthetic and wonderfully unique gameplay. (Noah "Spoony" Antwhiler, the internet)

Insert that opinion in regards to Chrono Cross as well. (internet)

I'd still say that's a relatively popular opinion, but yeah. I replayed it recently and sort of went to myself: "If this game has flaws, I'm really, REALLY not seeing them."

I like all the wheel of time books. Not just one through 6. I also think the books under Brandon Sanderson are just as good as Robert Jordan's. Though not quite better.

Hum..

CCP aren't out to screw over their playerbase in every way possible and I like the general direction of EVE Online's development (Incarna and stuff .. though, yeah, no non-vanity MT's and all that please).

Final Fantasy XIV is a highly enjoyable game, and was at launch once critical bugs were resolved. It's a horrible shame Hiromichi Tanaka was removed from the project, given he apparently hoped to have the Guildleve system to allow for player-made tasks, and most of his priorities were focused on player-driven content and believability. Final Fantasy XIV was screwed up by execs forcing it out of the door too fast rather than Tanaka's hubris or something like. (Does this one count? I suppose the one about the new lead pulling a lot of my favourite bits certainly doesn't..) Oh! And the partial collision detection on characters was a really nice answer to the ghosting/annoying barrier problem, and shouldn't have been removed.

Final Fantasy XIII was one of the better Final Fantasies, and I enjoyed it significantly more than the others.

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within was a good film, and stands up even when viewed today.

So is the Care Bears Movie.

'Korean-style', grind-based MMORPGs are slightly better than 'Western-style', 'quest' driven ones, as they promote emergent gameplay slightly more, even if they lack content by comparison. (However, both represent out-dated strategies for enabling adventures in an online fantasy world with large numbers of players at once, created due to technological limitations and now stuck in something of a rutt.)

Flexibility of character customisation is one of the most important elements in an MMORPG.

Furries are not nearly as creepy as the internet likes to claim. Nor, for that matter, are roleplayers.

Silent Hill 4 was a perfectly good contribution to the franchise.

There is nothing wrong with the continuation of the MegaMan franchise (though I do wish they'd let the writers finish storylines, for once). Same goes for Sonic the Hedgehog, even if some of the games have been a bit iffy.

The Sega Saturn was an awesome console, and slightly better than the Playstation.

I guess that's it for me, for now..

So...What's a POSITIVE opinion that's different from the norm?

I mean, I get the obvious ones like "Hitler was right!" and "I think raping and murdering 10-year-olds should be legal." but what's the line? It's morally wrong? By who's standard? Yours? I actually know the question to that answer. The majority's standard. I suppose you could say that a positive nonconformist opinion is one that a slight majority somewhat dislikes while a negative nonconformist opinion is one that almost everyone passionatly hates.

Now I'm not saying that Nazism and rape is ok. Actually, it's quite the opposite. Nonconformism is not good by it's own merit. Individual thinking is good, but even there I think we have to keep in mind that our ability to exchange and collectively process information is what I think seperates us from animals. It's not random that Nazism is considered evil or, on a less serious matter, The Room is not exactly considered cinematic gold.

By that I don't mean that holding a minority opinion is wrong. In the ideal society we make opinions or take up the opinions if others if(and only if!) we agree with them. That way society naturally gravitates towards, as well as defines, good values. But it's important to never stop question societies views and morals. This is why I value things like skepticism, the scientific method, logic, the rule of law and democracy so highly.

Things such as "I like Justin Bieber" or "I think looking like a purple-haired corpose is great" are matters of taste. If that's what you think then there's nothing wrong with that, it's just your opinion. But there's nothing glorious about holding a minority view either.

Okay, that was way to much off-topic philosophical rambling.

I think Family Guy is funny.
The Scissor Sisters are awesome (deal with it).
I like some Lady GaGa music.
I think the Nightmare on Elm Street remake is a damn good horror movie
Matt Smith is a better Doctor than David Tennant was.

YES.

OT:

I like Dane Cook every once in a while. (Internet) I mean, if you listen to him like every few months or so he's hilarious. But if you keep listening to him a lot, you'll soon want to choke the guy to death.

Yes because none of those are in any way part of the norm. Megadeth aren't totally the second biggest Thrash Metal band there is and those shows are not loved by millions.

OT: Anthrax is my favorite Big4 band at the moment, while they would usually be the least favorite for most people.

I think that kids should get into fights and get hurt physically at a young age to teach them that action have equal reactions, and that fighting can be a hell of a good time even if you get your ass kicked.

I find live versions of songs to be generally funner than studio versions, whether they be ill produced or not, they just have more feeling to them.

Fallout 3 had a very good story.

Oblivion was an upgrade over Morrowind

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm is better then all of the previous expansions.

Dragon Age 2 despite it's problems, was a very good game.

i have more but this is just from the top of my head.

We call potato chips Crisps as they tend to be thin like Lay's rather than the thickness of Ruffles. I've never eaten at Wendy's. I'll have to give 'em a go next time I'm in America.

I think Avatar is an excellent movie (internet)
It's 8.2 on IMDB. That is usually a pretty accurate aggregate. So people like it, mostly.
Well, that's good news. I just see a lot of hate for it on forums.

Some people don't like the plot, apparently. Which I can understand. I liked the execution, though, as well as the worldbuilding and special effects.
I'm not sure I can think of any unpopular opinion that comes to mind.. I mean I think card games are really fun and I enjoy playing massive amounts of video games, which while nerdy and not something I exactly tell people when I meet them, is something everyone I'm friends with knows. I mainly noticed what I bolded above and wanted to send a cautionary warning: there are people out there that will try to rip you apart for using IMDB as any sort of aggregate. I once used it in passing to say something about a movie (I don't really remember the details) and I got a string of responses about how "IMDB is a bunch of 12 year olds voting for their favorite movies over and over" and how useless it was. For the record, I agree with you about IMDB being a decent aggregate.. but you've been warned. :p
