well...there are 5 unaccounted-for halo installations. based on previous flood specimens, i'd assume that all those installations have Flood specimens probably being locked up somewhere, since the Forerunners were so smart to keep a hold on them XD. lets see...we had them locked down in Alpha Halo (Combat Evolved) where captain keyes accidentally released them. then the Gas Mine in the upper atmosphere of Threshold (Halo 2) where Arbiter is sent to quell the Heretics, and they release the Flood there. and Delta Halo (Halo 2) where they were being led by the Gravemind, deadlocked in a fight with the Forerunner Defense Platforms, then they infested High Charity and those Flood werent destroyed until the end of Halo 3, and Earth was saved from infection by Glassing East Africa. So the flood are basically gone except for what might be locked up in other Forerunner structures that remain undiscovered throughout the galaxy...

as for the forerunner structure seeming to absorb the remnants of the Forward Unto Dawn (maybe that "machine" was part of the "Legendary Planet" in the legendary ending of Halo 3...but my guess is perhaps that Chief is a living creature prone to Flood Infection, with a Class 2 "combat skin" (as generalized by Guilty Spark in the games, and in Halo Universe backstory, where class 18 was most effective, making chief not too effecient, so to speak...) and maybe the Forerunner tech wanted to be rid of him so that the infection could not spread, or perhaps it wants to destroy him to keep some kind of secret(s) safe from the rest of the galaxy (maybe theres something gruesome the forerunners didnt ever want us to discover..perhaps worse than the Flood?) or maybe it was trying to grab them so that it could "show them" something...maybe it'll send chief to accomplish a task only a Reclaimer can accomplish?

but who can say? its all conjecture...we can keep guessing but it wont change the truth that we'll have to wait until holiday of 2012 to discover...so we'll have to keep busy with our real, everyday lives, Reach and the Combat Evolved Anniversary at the end of this year ( which im stoked for btw!!! =D )

one more thing: who wants to bet that Mendicant Bias is gonna be the Villain in this one? cuz apparently he "said something" to Chief in the last Forerunner terminal at the end of Halo 3...

I'm hoping that Chief finds Dr. Halsey and the Spartans that went into the shield world in Ghosts of Onyx- seeing as this is some sort if forerunner world or world construct, it may be possible. Because we all know that more Spartans are better than one! I agree that Cortana may be having difficulties pertaining to rampancy if she hasn't reached metastability yet. Also, it has the three key elements of any Halo game following the Chief- Action(in the form of explosions in the trailer) ,Cortana, and of course John himself- so even if the plot isn't all that great, the game should still be fun. Hopefully.
i hope he gets to Onyx too! but i also hope we can see Spartan Grey Team from the The Cole Protocol. they were behind enemy lines and were too far away to be recalled to Reach. and we have to remember Red Team, the 3 spartan-I's from Halo Wars and the UNSC Spirit of Fire in Halo Wars. cuz that legendary ending, the ship AI says "Captain, wake up.....something has happened."
more conjecture for us to put in our speculation pipes to smoke! lol

I'm curious, people don't complain when you can't actually jump onto the big bad guys head and stab him in the eye with a sword in some epic way like in the announcement trailer of most games. Hell, no one in GuildWars can jump but the trailer shows them doing an awful lot of hopping around.

In short: they just thought it would look cool. That isn't meant to be the opening cinematic or anything.

what was that weird gun explody thing he had? not sure, but definatly not any weapon i have seen.
I haven't played too much Halo, but from what I could tell it was a grenade launcher-esque thing, on the end of the basic pistol. Kind of like older rifle grenades. Looked cool to me.

I never played through all of the Halo series, and I'm not much of a fan, but even I'm a bit interested in where they're going to take this.

As I said earlier it looks to be a single shot, explosive dart gun.

Humans are descended from the Forerunners I believe hence why all the Covenant weaponry (which is scavenged Forerunner tech) complies and works with humans. Anyway remember Guiltyspark? Remember how annoying he was, prepare for an entire trilogy based on fighting Ancient Forerunners who live on in AI memory cores encased in technology. Imagine a 100000,000000 year old Forerunner whose mind has been preserved thanks to their enchanced technology, he's evolved past emotion in his personality matrix and lives in one of those flying metal balls. I imagine that thanks who the enemies/allies of the new games will be and they will range from massive monolithic structures kind of like the God Machine from the Matrix Revolutions (possibly the big ship like structure from the trailer), to tiny well armed metal balls like the ones from Phantasm.

Hello Mastercheif?

However this game turns out I respect Bungie for leaving it for other things and generally drawing a line under their involvement, however I worry that one of the "forerunners" (see what I did there?) of the current gen fps has been left by it's caring owner to be milked until it's udders turn black and fall off by the cruel heartless Microsoft who wants merely to make money from it's once rich produce rather than tell a great story and make a lot of people have fun.

Okay, not going to lie, but I thought that the Forerunner Planet-bot thing in the Halo 4 trailer looked alot like a giant monitor.. and a bit like Weatley... which was really weird...

Looked like he shot a barrel of some-sort using the standard pistol. He then attached a suppressor to it o_O

Bias isn't going to be the villain. He was atoning for his sins for betraying the fore-runners by helping the chief.

That thing he's being sucked into? That's the PLANET he was orbiting in my theory.

My guess is that large marathon symbol on the left opened up upon detecting the frigate.

Also the pistol had some type of charge placed on the barrel and when the gun is fired, the front part shoots off towards the target. So that isn't a silencer. When he shoots the "pistol" to blow open part of the ship - you'll notice that the gun is odd, it seems like a pistol, but he holds it like an UZI. Also notice the portion of the front end to he gun is now gone. Also note at the end of the trailer of how he is holding it. That is not a pistol, that is a UZI. :p

As I have been saying. From what I can tell the side arm seems to be a single shot, explosive dart gun. Kinda like the tracer gun used by sniper class in Battlefield Bad Company mutliplayer, except they explode instead of giving a location of an enemy.

I don't believe that it is an Uzi. They had the SMG to basically takes its place in the Halo Universe. I still am going with my explosive dart gun weapon theory.

That's a very odd place for the comma in that number....

OT: The trailer looks cool. Seems like some form of alien ship with a tractor beam of sorts.

I can't wait.

People keep asking why Chief had a jetpack, yet they conveniently ignore the fact that MJOLNIR Mk V armor used in reach can be augmented with different abilities to make it SUPERIOR to the MK VI armor used by Chief in Halo 2 and 3. Does anyone else notice this or is it just me?

yes, all makes sense, but where did the jetpack come from?
One of my friends showed me the trailer and thats all I could say. I went on for the entire trailer and 10 min after that and eventually his answer was "Well it's only for space"
I just shook my head.

I don't believe it is a jetpack. I am fairly curtain that all Spartans from Chief's generation had built in components that allows them to move around with little problem in Zero-G.

I don't really care where it came from. IT'S MASTER CHIEF WITH A JETPACK!
And in all honesty there probably going to say its a Orbital Drop Pack used to lessen the fall from orbital drop offs with no pods but he is just using it as a jetpack in space.
Back on the old Halo games you could fall forever and hit the ground running. So why stop at orbital drops? I mean, if Noble 6 can survive falling form orbit, but he dies falling off a 50 foot drop. Hold on...
