As I have been saying. From what I can tell the side arm seems to be a single shot, explosive dart gun. Kinda like the tracer gun used by sniper class in Battlefield Bad Company mutliplayer, except they explode instead of giving a location of an enemy.

Actually, the Specialist class in Bad Company has the dart gun. I once saw a guy covered in them and he looked like a Christmas decoration

But no way about the Christmas Decoration thing, me and my friend used to just shoot each other with them and then run around the map for no reason. xD

That would fit perfectly with some speculation that they will somehow tie in the Ghosts of Onyx story into Halo 4.
