i'm not very sure the link will works, i had to copy them from my iphone...

i have a ton of non-english songs, but i'll pick two that i have special feelings about them...

First Marie-Mai "Mentir"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhFNiEpQpus&feature=youtube_gdata_player

ok, it's suppose to be a more teen oriented singer but i like her anyway :D

Life force us sometimes to take detours
Hiding truth by dressing it in velvet
Manipulate one to protect the others
Without ever revealing to whom the fault is

Lying to escape
Your reflection in the mirror
Lying to not disappoint
Merging in the surrounding
Never stop to
Lying to escape
Your reflection in the mirror
Lying until you don?t see yourself anymore
Merging in the surrounding
Never stop to lie, lie

Torture by boredom, we build ourselves stories
To lie so well, we end up believing ourselves
How get out of this without deceiving everybody
When come the time of leaving, taking it in your grave

Lying to escape
Your reflection in the mirror
Lying to not disappoint
Merging in the surrounding
Never stop to
Lying to escape
Your reflection in the mirror
Lying until you don?t see yourself anymore
Merging in the surrounding
Never stop to lie, lie

Who will wipe our tears ?
Who will finally see the drama ?
Who will see through the veil ?
Who will finally break the mask ?

Lying to escape
Your reflection in the mirror
Lying to not disappoint
Merging in the surrounding
Never stop to
Lying to escape
Your reflection in the mirror
Lying until you don?t see yourself anymore
Merging in the surrounding
Never stop to lie to escape
Your reflection in the mirror
Lying to not disappoint
Merging in the surrounding
Never stop to
Lying to escape
Your reflection in the mirror
Lying until you don?t see yourself anymore
Merging in the surrounding
Never stop to lie, lie

And from the group Les cowboy Fringants, the song "La bonne pomme"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tH024nM-tBY&feature=youtube_gdata_player

You were the good apple
In the middle of the basket
The autonomous little girl
Living with the losts

Dad was diligent
To the bottle
Mom lost
In wonderland

For those not so funny people
You became
A mother, a shoulder
A point of salute

While they were killing themselves
All week long
They were ignoring
The extend of your suffering

Sometimes you cry
When you think about it
This pain
You live it in silence
One day they will come out
Those words that you keep in
And your tears will stop
Finally

You were the good apple
In the middle of the basket
The autonomous little girl
Living with the castaways

Dad was sitting
At the bar nearby
Mom was gone
With a new lover

You who raise yourself
Alone like a grownup
In this closed world
Dark and without garlands

You understood quickly
Due to taking
That for survival
You will have to flee

Sometimes you cry
When you think about it
This pain
You live it in silence
One day they will come out
Those words that you keep in
And your tears will stop
Finally

You were the good apple
In the middle of the basket
The young woman that finally
End up fine

Gone studying very far away
For never getting back again
In your neibourgh
Full of sad memories

When the rotten apples
Give you blames
Your apple heart get harder
And become a rock

You cut your roots
With the old basket
An orphan
You always were

Sometimes you cry
When you think about it
This pain
You live it in silence
One day they will come out
Those words that you keep in
And your tears will stop
Finally

You were the good apple
That fell off the basket
And I?m that man
That picked you up

I will always be by your side
If you want to talk me about
Your bruises
Hiding under your apple skin

Sorry if there's mistakes, i translated it myself

You bet! Liked my modest attempt in a translation? You did really good with that Stam1na song. ^_^
Nice to see fellow countrymen here on the Escapist! =D
I enjoyed your translation. For some reason, "Sika" feels ridiculously finnish to me and your translation kept that feeling.
You might want to check the Helsinki Complaints Choir video i posted if you already didn't, at least if you live in Helsinki.

It was a hot and foolish afternoon
Hot enough to get a sunburn
In the summer of '97
And I was dying to see you
I could only think of winning you over,
Of taking you to "whatever part",
So I went to a bar without a name
To wait for you there

I put on some tight pants
And the shirt from the concerts
"Let's go, Jose"
We went by car
Because we were ready to eat up the night

And when I got to your street you were there
Waiting at the bus stop
Gracefully licking a Chupa Chups
How vicious, how vicious!

I don't know how I didn't see behind me
When I saw the crack in your skirt
That a Seat Panda crossed the street
And collided with my Ford Escort

At the sight of the crack in your skirt,
I had an accident with a Seat Panda.
At the sight of the crack in your skirt,
I had an accident with a Seat Panda.

10:40 past mid-day
We arrived late so the plans don't change
The bar owner was in a huff
Because there wasn't any bread
And the people enter when they enter
And I warm up when I warm up
My brother plays when he plays
Are you listening or not?
Between the body heat and the soul of the atmosphere
The dim points were very potent
The people in front of me were very expectant
Hot! Hot!
Suddenly the door opened
While I took up the guitar
And my legs became weak
To see the crack in your skirt again

At the sight of the crack in your skirt,
I broke 3 strings on this guitar
At the sight of the crack in your skirt,
I broke 3 strings on this guitar

And now that time has passed
It feels like only yesterday
Since you disappeared from the concert
I haven't been back to see you
I don't remember your eyes
Nor do I remember your gaze
All I can recall is the crack in your skirt

At the sight of the crack in your skirt
I became obsessed and went from bar to bar
At the sight of the crack in your skirt,
I had an accident with a Seat Panda.

At the sight of the crack in your skirt,
I had an accident with a Seat Panda.
At the sight of the crack in your skirt,
I had a disaster with a Seat Panda.

I make no guarantees about the word-for-word accuracy of the translation, as I did it myself and it has been a while since I had a chance to really use my Spanish, but this should be easily good enough to understand the song.

The series Urusei Yatsura has always been a favorite of mine, from basically originating the Hybrid "Romance/Sci-Fi/Comedy" series, to pioneering the "One guy with a lump of unreasonably attractive girls inexplicably attracted to him" anime. Funny, fun and filled with romantic tear-jerking moments, it's a classic. Also, the songs are all so fun and beautiful, from the cute and playful to the longing and sorrowful. And one of my favorites...

"Lum No Ballad" Performed by Hirano Fumi
Darling yubiwa hikatteru.
Hora kaze ni furueteru.
Yasashii sasayaki kikoetekuru yoo
watashi o yondeiru no.
Hoshi no kazu yori ai ga ookutemo
anata to futari ai wa hitotsu dake.
Togireru koto wa nai no;
sore wa
anata e no "ai."

Darling yubiwa tsuketeru no.
Ima hoshi o mitsumeteru.
Omoide utsushita screen mitai
anata ga hohoenderu.
Tatoe watashi no soba ni inakutemo
futari no ai wa eien ni hitotsu.
Togireru koto wa nai no;
sore wa
anata e no "ai."

Darling

And now, in English...

Darling, the ring is shining.
Look, I'm trembling in the wind.
I seem to hear a gentle whisper
calling to me.
Though there is more love than there are stars
there is only one love for you and I.
An unbroken thing;
that is
my "love" for you.

Darling, are you wearing the ring?
Now, I'm looking at the stars.
Like a screen projecting our memory,
you're smiling.
Even though you're not beside me
our love will be one forever.
An unbroken thing;
that is
my "love" for you.

Darling

Kontroll på kontinentet / Control on the Continent by Kaizers Orchestra

Fader Martin, eg syns dette begynner å lukte bensin
Og min Constanze ta min hatt, ta mine sko, ta mitt extravaganza

It takes a man to walk with my hat
It takes a man to take over my power
He must have nr.42 to walk with my shoes
but he must have his own pistol
'cause you know what it says in the will
You know what stands in the will
He who takes care of my Constanze
Gets my hat, gets my shoes, gets my extravanganza

Take control on the continent

and I'm asking to be well perfumed
I'm going to smell good when I'm first going down
and I have personally sent out invitations
I have a priest, I have a sacristan, it's full corruption
but all this stands in my will

I can imagine it, it crawls towards me
Oh, my sister, now I know who squealed
Oh, my sister, I heard everything you said with my coffin
Father Martin, I think this is starting to smell gasoline
and my Constanze, take my hat, take my shoes, take my extravaganza

EDIT: I see that my "æøå" letters kinda fucked up, sorry bout that.

After 22 years in this life
I write the testament of my youth
Not that I have to present money or valuables
I never succeeded in being a smart guy

But I still have some great ideas
well done, old fashioned though.
Who wants them may go and get them
Especially young people still like them.

To my little brother that will like to study
I'm happy to leave the address of my pub,
where I drank too much to impress a woman
followed by the slams I asked for

and then I have a few girlfriends
well educated and very clever
therefor you can't start anything with them
but perhaps someone may get them down.

For my nephew are my unfulfilled dreams
a little childish, but oh so deep.
I was always one of those
walking slower than luck

For my friends I love to leave
the talent to fall in love with a lady's smile.
Unfortunately they cheated once too many times on me
but it's allowed for anybody to try

My girlfriend I leave you all nights
I shed tears for your lack of faith
But remember I will wait in patience
till I laugh because they fool you too.

And the teacher who predicted
boy, you once will loose your way
can be satisfied and doesn't need a thing
which means he was right at all

(instrumental)

For my parents is the album with the pictures
that falsely show a happy youth.
But you can't see the empty phrases
raising a child in virtue and dignity

On top of this I return the foolish stuff
they taught me too much in those days.
After all they can't force me
to grow up with no remorse nor regret.

And then I have some good friends
but they received enough of me.
So I don't envy what they deserved,
All drinks they stole from me.

Nothing else, the're just some things
keep because no one wants them,
The beautiful memories when I was young,
you carry with you all life long.

I don't particularly like this translation, but it's all I could find. I'm too lazy to translate other songs by this guy. :p

We are the ones the others can not play with,
we are the bad company.
We have a weak character
and a cheap fantasy
it as well that we were born
before abortion was free

We are the ones the others can not play with,
we are the bad company.
We have a weak character
and a cheap fantasy
it as well that we were born
before abortion was free
oh jaaaa

Ever since we were small (since we were little)
said our mother that we would (said our mother that we would)
go to the dogs one day (go to the dogs one day)
But they said the father also (but then said the father also)
"La 'them tea' like a fool" (let them te 'like a fool)
It as their own cause
never mind today
Oh-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
Oh-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la

We are the ones the others can not play with,
we are the bad company.
We have a weak character
and a cheap fantasy
it as well that we were born
before abortion was free

oh jaaaa
Wow-wow-jaaaa

Fils de France by Damien Saez is one of my favourite songs. I love the contrast between the melody and the anger of the words. It's basically a call for the young to take a more active part in politics. The 20% mentioned refers to the number of eligible young voters who actually turned out for a particular French election.
The lyrics in English are below. (This is my own translation, so I apologise for any errors.)

I saw, with tears in my eyes, the news this morning
20% for the horror, 20% for the fear
Drunk to unconsciousness, all the sons of France.
In the land of Enlightenment, suicidal amnesia.

No, no, no, no, no...

We are, we are the nation of human rights,
We are, we are the nation of tolerance,
We are, we are the nation of the Enlightenment,
We are, we are at the hour of resistance.

For the dreams that we have had,
And those we will have,
For the fist that we have raised
and those that we will raise,
For an ideal,
For a utopia,
Come, march together,
Children of the homeland.

Sons of France,
Keep your heads down, yes that they will love, the minutes of silence.
Sons of France,
It was just yesterday and already you brandish the flag of ignorance.
Sons of France,
We must never forget that we are, and we will be, the sons of the Resistance.
Sons of France,
In the kingdom of the blind, you know well what they say, the cyclops is king.

Their shadows are behind us,
It is their ideas we?ve sold,
It is their flags which fly,
And their hymns above.
And then there?s you, my brother,
Yes you who no longer believes,
And then there are our prayers,
And our lost causes.

Shame on our country,
Shame on our homeland,
Shame on us, the young,
Shame on tyranny.
Shame on our country,
There they are again, the enemy.
Come, march together,
Children of the homeland.

We are, we are the nation of human rights,
We are, we are the nation of differences,
We are, we are the nation of the Enlightenment,
We are, we are at the hour of resistance.

I'm gonna go weird and do Swedish rap because 1. No one is as depressed, frustrated and morbid as a swede in wintertime which equals in kickass lyrics. 2. In Swedish you can rhyme random words endlessly yet it still doesn't sound retarded, it can even be gramatically correct!

The song title translates to Black Poetry.

*crazy intro*
Yeehehes, here will great things happen

*intro*
Black poetry in my vocabulary, so
Black poetry in my vocabulary, so
Black poetry in my vocabulary, so
high fives and respect first

*Verse 1*
He who kills everything in the crosshairs in two seconds.
Warmouth, Mic-king, battlehunger
riki-tiki-chick boom, real heavy one
Freddy, freddy knifehand cut you in you in your dreams
Jason hockeymask, the chainsaw massacre
Killer apetite, the parasites force of arms,
Abstract, pitchblack, checkmate
On my treasure hunt, get in the way and get slaughtered
Watch out, have i said i fuck everything?
zig-zagging torch, volcano, Kattla (famous dragon in swedish litterature)
Fireflower, sheik, killermole
Lot's of corpses stuck on my gold rod
Comic book about a serial killer serial killing
And death's scythe followed me while i harvested
Lives on instinct, Billy Jean bassline.
Cadaver-eating, so searingly good I

*Chorus*
I Come from a place pretty far from town so
Black Poetry like a bomber, TAKE OFF!
Sleep upside down, close my eyes while i rhyme so
Black Poetry, Battle Tank, Boom, STRAIGHT FORWARD!

I Come from a place pretty far from town so
Black Poetry like a bomber, TAKE OFF!
Sleep upside down, close my eyes while i rhyme so
Black Poetry, Battle Tank, Boom, STRAIGHT FORWARD!

*Verse 2*
Hero of glaciers, starve away the feelings
Underground passageway of Pentagon under my belt
The fifth element, burning away fashion
Makes the devil mumble forth:
Shit, what the fuck is going on?
Snake poison code, coded by comet in coma
Cocaine, casanova, armageddon can be arranged
Volcanosect, set themselves in respect but
Ventilation shaft fencing, russian roulette relative
Close your eyelids, horror movies red ending
Poltergeist, sombering dead corpses
Fountain crash, hash from mars
Cryptonite merry-go-around, loose your place quickly
I spin around the crocodiles territory
Blood on my body, dive in, screaming BITE!
I can eat your pistol if you count my words
Black Poetry, Denture bombs slip through, oh

*Verse 3*
Chuck, dark energy, around Tennessee
Fake bullets break your jaw simoltaneously
Death notice under the hide of the bull
Rated R sound from the speaker
Portable bear with spiked hump on it's back
Malaria Mosquitoes blood storage building
I'm the biggest animal in the feline family
Barbed wire tail, mutant, powered by the wind
A forest elephant, sucking blood in the park,
Punch through the headm into the body, out and hit the ground
Skewered on the trunk, Cadaver procession
Scandalous vandaks on black coordinates
Werewolves on guard, alliance of the galaxies
Your last act in the power mongers slaughter
58 species in your body, hope of the lizards
On top, kill hip-hop with spit, and

Chucky, mörk energi, runt Tennessee
dum-dum-kulor tar sönder din mun under tiden
dödsbudet under huden på tjuren
barn-förbjudet ljud ut genom spjutet
barbar björn med spikpuckel på ryggen
malariamyggens blod-silo-byggen
största djuret här i kattfamiljen
taggtråds-svans, mutant, får kraft av vinden
En skogselefant, suger blod i parken
slår igenom huvet, in i kroppen, ut till marken
spetsad av en snabel, kadavernas parader
skandalernas vandaler på svarta breddgrader
varulvarnas vakt, galaxernas pakt
din sista akt hos maktmissbrukarnas slakt
58 arter i en kropp, ödlornas hopp,
i topp som dödade hiphop med spott, och

Swedes are out in force it seems.

Anyway, a classic punksong (technically a cover, but this version is far more famous nowadays) by Ebba Grön.

The Capital raises the rents
and the State the home support
That way you can lightly abuse
the rock-solid wagelaw
And even pay less in wages
than the cost of food and rent
For the State will gladly help
if the costs of living grow
too expensive.

(ref.)
Side by side, they help each other out
The State and the Capital, they're in the same boat
But they do not row, row so the sweat pours
And the whip that tickles, does not tickle
Their fat necks.

The schools duty is as it should
To school the workforce
If the broom is to sweep well
you need a good staff
Grades and degrees and levels
are a system to divide
The good from the bad and bring each
To his right place

(ref 2)
Side by side, together they skulk
The State and the Capital, two wolves kind as lamb
But they do not row, row so the sweat pours
And the whip that tickles, does not tickle
their fat necks.

ref.

The tempo by the machines is raised
Here the elite work
The production cannot afford one
Who has been worn out
But to ensure none think there is a problem
with the high wages
He is seen as a disease-case and treated
by the merciful work healthservice

Kampen by Windir.

In old Norwegian it means somthing simmilar to Struggle but in Google Tranlate it says it means fight, although both are fitting for the song.

The video has the translation in discription, but I'll post it anyway.

First time they came was with white, christ and cross
And many of us refused to accept this "Jesus" christ
But some of us betrayed.Earth and position instead of heathen rite
Now we must out and "start" a battle againt the christian assholes
The hammer of Thor was shattered, replaced with a cross.
Singing of the tone, replaced with "boring" words.
Blót was forbidden, replaced with church service
Hörgr(religious building, alter) was burned, replaced with churche
Now we must out and "start" a battle againt the christian tramps
The second time they came they acted as "they knew it all" so we seeked knowledge.
Many of us denied to act as a city ass, but some of us betrayed.
Status and acceptance for good farmers wit.
Now we must out and "start" a battle againt the city tramps
Hauga and vådla(2 places in Sogn) dissapered, big houses to build.
Our language became tainted, ao to å, i to e
Beer and guild, to sweet wine? and "burpwater"
Farming and wooden shoes, to wide fields with bad shoes
Now we must out and start a battle againt the city tramps

Som vanligt då...

Somehow, wherever you go on the internet there's always a bunch of swedes around. Good choice by the way, if sweden made a list of it's most iconic songs of all time it would definitely get a place.

this is a great old song.ok here we go.

Verse 1
The earth is thirsty, trees are hungry
Choir: Let it rain, my Lord, already!
The green is yellow now, and the world is dry
Choir: Let it rain, my Lord, already!
The corn swelters and flowers die
Choir: Let it rain, my Lord, already!
Bring us the bad weather, Let it rain, my Lord, already!

Verse 2
Boy and the girl watching the sky
Choir
The cattle lowing for something to eat
Choir
Nothing but their tears watering the meadow
Choir
Blow the bad weather away, Let it, my Lord, to rain!

Bridge
Let it, let it, let it...ooo,aaaa, let it...blah.

Verse 3
The earth is dying, hardly breathing
Choir
Grass snaps, leaves cracks
Choir
If this goes on like this, there wont be bread to eat
Choir
Ease the air with your might, Let it, my Lord, to rain!

Verse 4
Night-colored cloud is brought by the wind
Choir
Buckets are filled, hope is rippling
Songs of the people reaching up the sky
Let it already, my Lord, to rain!

Let it!
My Lord!
Rain alredy!

I am danish, so it is only natural that I post a danish song, right? XD
This one is called Langebro or The Long Bridge, which is an acctual bridge in Copenhagen (the capital). I walk over that bridge every single day, so I guess that is why I have such strong feelings for this song. Basically it is about this guy who walks in the streets of Copenhagen and describes all the bad things he sees. It is written and preformed by the old danish band Gasolin. I apologise for my poor english XD

When I walked out on the long bridge,
early on a monday morning,
I saw someone who just stood there and cried.

If you dare, then come with me.

I walked right pass the gates of hell,
in front of Kofoeds school,
a bunch of people just stood there and drank them selves to death.

If you dare, then come with me.

I met someone who walked around with "wake up",
she was jehovas witness,
she screamed "earth will fall today!"

So if you dare, then come with me.
Yes come with me...

I saw a woman chase her husbond,
she had the most beautiful eyes,
she screamed "Hey! You stole my life!"

If you dare then come with me.

Yes if you dare then come with me
I said if you are brave then come with me

Here it is in danish for those who want it:

Da jeg gik ud over Langebro,
en tidlig mandag morgen.
Der saa jeg en der stod og graed.

Hvis du toer, saa kom med mig.

Jeg gik forbi demonernes port,
ude for kofoeds skole,
der stod en flok og drak sig ihjel.

Hvis to toer, saa kom med mig.

Jeg moedte en der gik rundt med "vaagn op",
hun var Jehovas vidne,
hun raabte "orden gaar under idag".

Saa hvis du toer, ja saa kom med mig.

Jeg saa en kvinde der loeb efter sin mand,
hun havde saa skoenne oejne
hun raabte "Hey! Du har stjaalet mit liv".

Hvis du toer, saa kom med mig.
Ja jeg sae'hvis du er modig, saa kom med mig!
