Toonami. It was a consistent part of my childhood. At the end of the school day, I'd quickly do all my homework so I could watch my favorite cartoons. Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Yu Yu Hakisho, Pokemon, Megas XLR, whatever; it was all good. Eventually they started showing new shows and I slowly lost interest. One day I walked through the living room and saw this:

Bang.

I've experienced Post Series Depression with every series I've been invested in, mostly in a melancholic what-the-fuck-am-I-gonna-watch-now sort of way, but there are exceptions.

Case in point: Lost.

I stopped watching the show mid-season 6, after finally realizing that it was going nowhere. Still, I was curious to see how the clusterfuck was gonna end, so eventually I managed to catch up with what I've missed just in time for the finale; the less is said about that, the better.
Suffice it to say, the depression I experienced had less to do with being in awe at how good a series this has been, and more to do with realizing that I've voluntarily watched every episode of this crap for the last 6 years.

Gotta be Avatar. I was CRUSHED when the series ended, tho it ended on the highest note imaginable, with the most epic fight in kids cartoon history.

Second has to be Megas XLR. Does anyone else remember this show? It only got two series then Cartoon Network cancelled it.

Mass Effect 2 has given me a withdrawal like feeling because I just want to play the third one so badly, but it won't be for a couple years. Replaying it this summer only made it worse I think.

I do however believe I will go through massive Post Series Depression when One Piece eventually ends because I have been watching the series for years now and once it is over I feel there will be a large void left.

I don't usually have this problem anymore.
Games don't usually have that effect on me, and the only books I read anymore are Don Pendletons 'Executioner' and a few all-action westerns (Which have a total list in the several hundreds). I likely won't run out until I'm reaching my second heart attack

Most recently I'd have to say 'Spartacus: Blood and Sand', despite cosmetically looking like it's just about dismemberment and tits, (yes I know that's a recommendation in a way), I found myself really drawn into the storyline, and when the credits rolled on the final episode, (which was ***ing epic! - no spoilers here tho!)damn I just wanted another 13 hours of it right there and then.

It's not EXACTLY post-series depression...but I seem to remember that the British term for "Season" seems to be "Series", so if we extend that, then it's applicable.

One day, I sat down to watch the season finale of both Dexter and Californication. I was loving Dexter and then at the end...

Dexter found his wife, murdered in her bathtub by Trinity, his baby boy covered in her mommies blood, just like the events that led to him becoming a serial killer himself

That bombshell...and I relized that I will have to wait until the next season to go anywhere with that...damn. Well at least I have Californication, Season 3, and...

Hank Moody finally lets his wife know that he slept with her ex-fiancees underage daughter. She turns a 180, from rebuilding there family to hating Hank, hitting him, their battle being dragged out into the street, which leads to Hank punching a cop. Then BAM, episode ends

Wait, what? He did THAT? It was far too much to leave unresolved. I'm still recovering.

Bobobo-Bo Bo-Bobo--One of the funniest (to me at least) animes out there and it was canceled for being "too violent". Hell if it was "too violent", then put it on Adult Swim! CN and AS work together--I call bs on their claims of it being "too violent". It was random and awesome, the manga ran much longer...I felt so empty when I finished it. Then I re-watched it again on Youtube, and everyday as I type now I've been re-watching one or two eps. in order.

Edit: Don Patch + Churros = Spaz-a-Patch. Don Patch FTW!

I WOULD have felt this way for Lost, but I felt like they just cockslapped me extra hard in that last fifteen minutes with some sneaky religious crap, which I really resent.

And yeah, when the Tenth Doctor moved on... but Matt's got my heart now. I kinda feel that way now waiting for the new episodes. How am I supposed to make it til Christmas for more Doctor Who??? Same with Torchwood. That won't be back till summer 2012 or something. I am so aloooooone.

As far as anime, I dunno. Death Note maybe, because I was so into it, but the ending was pretty fulfilling, so not so much.

I only get this feeling when an ending lets me down, or when I finish something so amazing that I know I'll never watch/read/play anything quite that good ever again. That's depressing.

Oh, and when my D&D group broke up... dang. That was like losing a piece of my heart.

I get "WTHDFDT" or "Why the hell did Fox do that!"

Symptoms include being pissed about the cancleation of Firefly, Sarah Conner Chornicals, Doll house, and Futurama. I've been taking my medican like the doctor said, re-watching old episodes of those shows and a weekly dose of that new pill Comedy Centeral came out with is really easing my pain. Escapially about Futurama.

NOOOOOOOO... Firefly.

*wimper*

Arrggg! You just made me think of Cowboy Bebop.

Another Arrested Development fan in mourning here. I also felt sadness with Deadwood - it was a great show and the last season sets up for a thrilling finale that never happens.

I also miss Veronica Mars.

I still haven't watched the last two seasons of the Wire because I love the first three so much I am afraid to finish it.

Other things: Robin Hobb's Farseer and Tawny Man Trilogies

I just finished watching the anime Elfen Lied and I was left with a feeling I have experienced many times. Post Series Depression, Post Series Depression (PSD) is the feeling I tend to get after I have finished a series. Even if it had a great ending and wrapped up everything nicely I still have a strange emptiness left over from the realization that I have taken in all this series has to offer and I have lost the surprise and anticipation I get by watching an episode I haven't seen. This even extends to video games after I have beaten them and unlocked everything. But not so much with movies because watching those with friends feels like a new experience every time in my case.

The series that gave me the worst PSD would have to be.
Elfen Lied (as I had mentioned above)
Lost (mostly due to the crappy ending)
Gantz
The Harry Potter Books
Hellsing
Okami (due to the "Point-Of-No-Return)
The World Ends With You, Castlevania-Dawn of sorrow and order of Ecclesia, and Kingdom Hearts II (I completed them all 100%)

what shows, games, books, or even movies gave you Post Series Depression?
holy shit dude i came into this thred saying ill say Elfen Lied thinking im the only one who will say it and hear you are the guy who made the tread says it....im shaking right now and i don't know why.

buy yeah Elfen Lied i felt strange and empty after watching it and ofter i watched all the ep. again it made me feel better....i watched all the ep AGAIN and after that closer came and i felt good....mainly because i did extensive reasurch and came to the conclusion that it is Lucy behind the door. people say she died during the shootout because her 2nd horn is shot off, but even afterwards bullets are still being diflected. and she is the same hight as the person behind the door, and she stands the same way to.
