Predictions For GW2's Future?

I'm prettysure the following will happen at some point:

1. The introduction of an aquatic/amphibious player race.

Ever since I heard they were making a serious attempt at having underwater mechanics I started to suspect they'd try this eventually. (If you've seen the *gorgeous* cities the current player races inhabit, you can probably appreciate how awesome Arenanet's take on the lost city of Atlantis would probably be.)

In support of my argument I'd claim this: the most vaguely defined Elder Dragon (the big bads of the game) is the "Deep Sea Dragon". I may be wrong, but the impression I get when I'm told that I'll have to fight a deep sea creature is that the fight will take place at the bottom of the sea. And considering the mind shattering scale of the monster is question, we'll likely need alot of room to fight...

What I'm getting at is that eventually, they'll roll out an expansion that adds a huge chunk of terrain/content to the ocean depths- and when they do they'll likely add a new race to help fill things in. And I for one would be stoked.

2. A 3rd "Martial" Class

It might just be my anal retentive gamer pattern seeking instincts at work, but I can't be the only guy who was somewhat off put by the fact that the heavy classes are outnumbered. If I had to guess I'd say that they'll probably add some type of "black knight" style class to the game at some point. They did mention that Palawa Joko was breeding an army of dark warriors from the Ossa bloodline. Maybe that'll turn out to be the missing link. After all, scholars have Necromancers and adventurers have Thieves- Warriors need their edgy foil too.

3. Political Tensions With China

Sorry, Cantha. But honestly, does anybody *not* expect the new xenophobic Emperor to roll overseas and start fuckin' with people at some point?

Fuuuuck, I hate underwater stuff. I hope they don't make a fully underwater thing.
Otherwise, I dunno. There will probably be new races and areas post-release, but not having had a chance to play it yet, I can't really think of anything else they could add.

Good underwater mechanics are rare, but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for now. Besides, there's no way they'd make *ALL* of it take place in fluid. There'd be components that take place on land, and likely some components that take place in underwater caves or on ships.

It's not the mechanics I'm scared of.
It's giant fucking sharks, yo.

Ahhh. I see. You'll probably be *super* unnerved if they do a good job of animating a dragon flying underwater.

Oh god no.
I have bad enough memories of Clanker from Banjo Kazooie. I can barely handle modern day underwater stuff.

I predict we will have to go to Elona and team up with Palawa Joko, the undead lord who has enslaved everyone in Elona, because he has some magical deus ex machina device that will allow us to beat the elder dragon Kralkitorik

I figure you're half right. I predict we'll team up with him out of simple need of military necessity (IE: need of troops and magical support). He might be an undead overlord, but we know from the events of Nightfall that he's not above making a compromise when he has to. Odds are pretty good the presence of an Elder Dragon disrupts his activities as much as anyone else's.

It is known that Joko and Zhaitan are dueling it out in the desert.

Since Zhaitain is the dragon we take out in the base game I suspect Joko wil try to expad and run into Kralkatorik.

I can not think of a worse scenario then fighting a Dragon underwater in a game. Ever since the combo of Tomb Raider 2 sharks and Majora's Mask as a kid I've never liked going underwater.

What do I expect for Guild Wars 2?

For it to crash and burn or at least barely hit a niche market, like all other non-WoW mmos.

I expect it'll be the biggest and most stable post-WoW success, although it won't grow as quickly as TOR did. Since it'll measure success in boxes sold instead of subscribers retained, though, it'll be more difficult to measure it directly against its subscription based competitors.

You can easily measure the use of its item shop or how many gems have been bought.

OT: I think it will do quite well. I can't make any lore related predictions since I hardly know any GW lore. Submarine boss fights would be awesome though.

I can't imagine them not sending us all back to Elona & Cantha at some point.

I think your definition of 'realist' is off a little.

The underwater mechanics on GW2 are actually remarkably good.

Introduction? There's already 2 friendly, bipedal amphibious races - The Hylek and Quaggan. 3, if you count the Kodan. I'd wager the Hylek may be playable in a future expansion, as they are actually quite well done now, and wear armour.

Another martial class is possible, but I can't see it happening. That said, there's not much to worry about balancing as such since no holy trinity exists.

As for Cantha, yeah - That's going to be a war of some kind. Personally, I'd appreciate some kind of stealth thing for the first third or so of Cantha, being unable to reach Kaineng and having to stick to the slums (assuming they still exist) and forests etc. to avoid the authority of the Ministry. I'd wager it'll involve overthrowing the Emperor and rekindling the clans to some extent. The dragon that will be fought is obviously going to be "Bubbles", the Deep Sea Dragon.

Elona will be centred around battling Joko, and likely feature Kralkatorrik.

Either a Northern Shiverpeaks section will be released to fight Jormag, or perhaps that will involve reaching the Janthir Isles, where I expect the Mursaat reside.

Primordius will either be fought underground or upon the Ring of Fire.

What a retarded viewpoint. You may or may not notice the "2" in the name. It has a sizeable following and isn't destined for failed mediocrity like Aion, Conan or Warhammer. It won't outsell WoW, but then it's not copying it either, and therefore not really competing.

I predict the following three things.

1) The game is great and it goes down in history as a classic of this era.

2) The game turns out to be mediocre and its eventually forgotten to all but those who found what to like in it.

3) The game is a disaster on the scale of Duke Nukem Forever, with the same results.

I think its worth mentioning at this point that i dont really care about GW2, or about whats in it, or even when its coming out.
