Its okay, when the baby is born disabled and she realises she's too fucking thick to look after it, she'll soon palm it off to someone else.
Seriously, why are the papers just writing about it and not contacting social services!?

"I don't want my life to stop". Pregnancy typically is life changing woman, by bringing a new one into the world. If you can't handle maturity, keep your legs closed and/or use protection, you stupid bloody cow.

Faith in humanity -1.

Am I the only one who just...isn't phased?
This kind of thing is super common. In fact I think half of the people with/about to have children have no business having them.
But Humanity is alive, and we persist.

...
The only reason that people care about this individual situation is because someone is hanging a lantern on it. Probably helps that she's attractive.

I'd almost wager money that this chick's from Liverpool.

But isn't that the way it tends to be with teen pregnancy? You get knocked up, the government gives you money and a place to live without any real effort on your part. I've seen this a million times. She obviously doesn't seem to want the kid. For the kid's sake I hope she doesn't have it. It's just a sad story all around.
What indication is there that this person is from Liverpool? Bigot.
A few years worth of actually living there, knowing people from there and general observation. I've seen this sort of thing before, it's not all that uncommon.

I once knew a kid who's mother was an alcoholic and drank during pregnancy, he had brain damage and disfigurement.

This girl disgusts me.
Completely off topic but - I thought your avatar was an actual bug and tried using my cursor to shoo it, then I scrolled down...Damn do I feel stupid! xD

OT: If it survives, take it off her and put her in rehabilitation - A kid that young should not be drinking anywhere near as much as that!

If the law stands in the way for her getting an abortion, then this is as much the government's fault as it is hers though.
So the state should be able to sexually assault someone with a vacuum tube because you don't like them?

And where do you draw the line at that?

But to defend herself, the Waltham Abbey, Essex, resident says: 'I'm young and I don't feel ready to stop my life.

Then get a damn abortion. If don't feel ready to "stop your life" (which is seems to be a lot of drinking) because you are pregnant, then you probably won't feel ready when the baby is born.

People. Don't have a baby unless you are 100% sure to have children.
This.

I think the best thing we can do is force her to keep the baby. No one can support her, give her money, or anything like that. She has to take care of the baby all on her own without any outside help aside from medical care, which she should have to pay out of pocket. That'll get the message across.

No, I mean that if the state has prevented her from now voluntarily choosing to have an abortion - i.e. drawn a line before it's medically unsafe to perform one - then it has de facto forced her to carry to term, and hence the situation she's in is not (entirely) of her own making.

Of course, if she doesn't want an abortion anyway, then all of this is entirely her fault. But if she does want one (the article doesn't say), and the state is preventing her, then the option she had of regaining full control over her own body without hurting any person has been unduly revoked.

Isn't that called negligence?
I think she should be charged with negligence when the baby is born with physical and mental problems. People like this are why we need abortion.
Currently an unborn fetus isn't a person, so you can't be charged with negligence. I'm not saying that's right, it's just how it works in current law. At least in the States.

Well, you learn something every day... and I just learned what a "unit of alcohol" is. I also crunched some numbers and came up with about 3.4 in 12 ounces of my favorite beer (which is 9.5% abv).

OT: State mandated abortion and surgical sterilization would be my vote. Don't wanna stop your life, yet you got yourself knocked up? Fine, you never get to have children.

Well, let's think logically. Does anyone need to intervene? What would be saved? Genetically speaking, does anyone think the baby born from someone of such troglodytically retarded intelligence would have much potential to begin with?
I refuse to believe that she was born that fucking stupid. She sounds like a normally stupid person who wasn't raised properly.

But then, I guess that merely confirms your argument, since someone with such a fucked up system of values can probably be expected to instruct their offspring similarly.

She is far too immature and selfish to be responsible or a human life. I like that she said something like "I am not ready to stop living life yet" or some such nonsense. She should have thought of that before getting knocked up shouldn't she? I hope that the child doesn't suffer from it's mothers idiocy, but I think that may be unlikely as she said that she is going to drink at home when she starts showing.

Additionally, for anyone who wants to get a good grasp on just what's happening to her little bundle of joy:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fetal_alcohol_syndrome

http://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/fasd/index.html

When a pregnant woman drinks alcohol, so does her unborn baby. Alcohol in the mother?s blood passes through the placenta to the baby through the umbilical cord. Drinking alcohol during pregnancy can cause miscarriage, stillbirth, and a range of lifelong disorders, known as fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASDs). Children with FASDs might have the following characteristics and behaviors:

* Abnormal facial features, such as a smooth ridge between the nose and upper lip (this ridge is called the philtrum)
* Small head size
* Shorter-than-average height
* Low body weight
* Poor coordination
* Hyperactive behavior
* Difficulty paying attention
* Poor memory
* Difficulty in school (especially with math)
* Learning disabilities
* Speech and language delays
* Intellectual disability or low IQ
* Poor reasoning and judgment skills
* Sleep and sucking problems as a baby
* Vision or hearing problems
* Problems with the heart, kidney, or bones

32 units of what? Water, cola, souls of children? What?
32 police units.

OT: It's sad to see that people like that are part of the gene pool. -_-

I'll assume you mean alcohol (Units, what the hell). And I don't see the problem. It's called an at home abortion. (Audience boos, she dives for cover). Actually, I'd be more concerned about a clear addiction problem.

I was pregnant once. A falcon punch cleared that right up. *Runs away as rotten tomatoes are thrown*
yeah, falcon punch IS super effective, lol.

but for reals? this is why i believe SOME people should be sterilized
