Well it's the same as my burger analogy (feel free to replace that with your food of choice) - you'll get a bun that is redundantly coated with sesame seeds; then there will be the meat, which is almost always beef; on top of that will be various items of salad, namely lettuce, onion and tomatoes; along with that you'll get some saucy condiments, including (but not limited to) ketchup; all this will be served up with a drink and most probably chips/fries, whether you're at a fast-food place or not. Just because it's the same basic thing each time, doesn't mean each burger isn't different and isn't (usually) delicious. A cheeseburger is almost the same as a regular plain burger, but it's still different and delicious. A burger with bacon and onion rings is different to a cheeseburger, which is different to a regular burger, even though they all have the same base.OutrageousEmu said:Let me make some wild, wild guesses here. You'll go to some temples that are redundantly devoted to some form of "element" of nature that would serve no practical purpose except for pissing off people going through it one at a time. You will be given an item that will likely be completely useless outside said temple, before facing a boss that by pure coincidence is only able to be killed by the weapon found in said dungeon/temple. You will also have to at some point engage in a massive trading excercise, acting as some sort of non-sexual Craigslist.
Am I in the ballpark?
People complain about COD recycling things but honestly, at least they didn't literally do another nuke sequence every game.
Wind Waker is not the same as Majora's Mask is not the same as Twilight Princess is not the same as The Legend of Zelda (original) is not the same as Zelda II etc.. Yes, you go to elemental/geographical temples, find items that are retardedly left in the dungeon whose boss they defeat, save Zelda, fight Ganon in the end, swing a sword, dress in green, but each game does things differently.
The whole archetype of "elemental temples" you speak of is much the same as most shooters having a heavy weapons guy, a light weapons guy, a standard soldier (usually with a standard assault rifle of some sort), a sniper/long ranger, a medic/supporting guy, and so on. Those shooters certainly aren't terrible because they recycle the same basic classes each time, it's what they do with them that determines it.
Woah, that was a little longer than I'd expected, sorry haha. I don't mean to be overly aggressive to the Zelda-haters, I just want to defend my corner from accusations that don't make sense to me XD
