Oh, ALWAYS. I've been 'probed' a few times and I'm sure people were let down by what I wrote, since it's either not very interesting, or there's not much content.

I really want 'Probed' to catch on.

And On-Topic: usually I would, just so I can see what they got "Probed", "Sussed", or "Banned" on.

Yes, because I'm a moderator on other forums (not saying which, so don't ask), and I like to see how others do their thing.

And I must say, I'm not too impressed with some of the stuff I've seen here. It's not common for moderators to leave details of why members were warned (for example, a quote with something like "this is in violation of rule x.y, warning issued"), and posts get hidden. Which is ok when it comes to spambots (but I imagine their stuff just plain gets deleted), but if people can't see what others have done wrong, they won't learn until they make the same mistake themselves, especially if it's something that isn't too clearly outlined in the rules. (For example, it doesn't say "don't create a thread solely to explain your favourite sexual position in explicit detail", but I imagine people would get warnings, maybe even banned outright for doing something like that) I've also seen a lot of people getting warned for stuff that they really shouldn't have (for example, banter getting treated like flamebaiting).

Almost always. I like to find out what happened, especially when the "probe" or "ban" is posted in such bright colors. I'm cursed with too much curiosity...someday I might make a decent reporter, if I can keep from getting my nose chopped off.

I got put on probation once for calling a troll ugly after he posted a picture of Goatsy...

In all honesty, the time I do have to look at the forums lately has been spent more on the folks earning "probes" and suspensions than seeing who has been punished for what. There are a lot of reports that come in on any given day.

Beyond that, as far as you folks know, I'm the one handing out the probes and suspensions like candy. So, if you want a mysterious villain in the sky to blame your mod wrath on, then you know where my PM inbox is. It was probably me anyway.

Pretty much all the time, sometimes I don't bother if it's just a probation. I love a bit of drama, especially when I'm not involved.

I do disagree quite often with the mods on probations or suspension, but 95% of the time a ban is well justified, and usually hilarious.

No, I don't have a clue who you are on about. If you would be so kind as to supply me with a link, then I could take a look.
Also, it isn't just the moderators who deal with reports. We're just volunteers. There are employees that help out if the mod queue gets too large.

Always quite eager to see if the authorities do something I do not approve of. I'm nice like that.

Also, none of you should fear filling out the complain forms if you're probated/suspended for something you do not feel you should have been.
Very recently, I had a suspension completely overturned, after writing a complaint.

Would you ban someone for discussing torrenting?

Me, personally? No, I wouldn't. And I haven't done so.
As far as I am aware, the act of torrenting isn't illegal. It is just torrenting copyright-protected material that is illegal.
I've only dealt with a couple of people who have told others to pirate/admitting to piracy without remorse themselves. Other mods tend to get to the torrent posts first on the mod queue, but if I get to it, and see nothing breaking the rules/illegal, then there is no reason to do anything.
How other mods deal with things is their business, and if they do it wrong in the eyes of the person receiving wrath, then PMs should be sent to Kuliani/the appeal form should be used.
And it does work. We make mistakes, and when they are made, they have to be addressed and changed, otherwise we'll learn nothing.

It's fun because my JavaScript is usually broken, and that means that whenever I click a 'this user was banned/suspended/put on probation for this post' link, I have about 4 seconds before the entire page 404's.

Trying to work out what someone did wrong in a matter of seconds is a skill that takes time and dedication.
