Alright, so I am at the suicide mission for ME2, and now I am at the biotic shield part. With the 2 biotics, I gained Jack's loyalty, but I failed the other powerful biotics mission. So I went through the entire damn level with Jack, and when I got to the end, Garrus for some reason died. WTF?

I GAINED HER DAMNED LOYALTY, I thought if you had there loyalty, they wouldn't let anyone die at this part, but for some reason, ONE OF MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS DIED.

For some reason with Jack, it lets me change her outfit, but It doesn't show the loyalty sign, is this the reason? Did I do that retarded ass mission for nothing?

But I'm replaying the mission with the other biotic, and if that doesn't work, I'ma gonna kick a puppy in the face.

So please, Mass Effect players, TELL ME WHY THIS HAPPENED? WHY DID I LOSE ONE OF MY FAVORITE SQUADMATES?

Did you side with Miranda when she and Jack had a fight? 'Cause that would make you lose Jack's loyalty. You need to take the special paragon/renegade options in those conversations to keep everyone loyal.

SHIT! I DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH PARDAGON!

Well, I can just restart the mission, and put jack in the squad, and hope she dies...

Worst case scenario you could always download someone else's save to carry over to ME3. I think there's a website for that.

You left him to hold the line didn't you? That actually counts as a choice. You have to leave the really tough squadmates like Grunt and Garrus because the squishies tend to die.

From The Wiki [http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Mass_Effect_2_Guide]

Biotic Specialist
Ideal: Samara/Morinth or Jack.
Non-Ideal: Anyone else. Doing so will result in one of your squadmates being carried off by a Collector swarm.

Fire-team Leader
Ideal: Garrus, Jacob, or Miranda. Note that Miranda will not die here even if disloyal.
Non-Ideal: Anyone else. There is a possibility of this leader dying as the doors close at the end of the long walk (shot in the stomach as the door closes).

An Escort
Ideal: Mordin. This will ensure his survival because he has a strong chance of dying if he doesn't escort the crew back, even if he is loyal. Otherwise, any loyal squad member is guaranteed to successfully escort the crew back to the ship.
Non-Ideal: A team member that you have not secured loyalty from. This squad member will perish while escorting the Normandy crew. Also, a squad member with a high "defensive skill" value (Grunt, Zaeed, Thane), as this may indirectly cause Mordin's death if he is left to hold the line.

Final Battle
The team you pick here will stay with you for the rest of the suicide mission ? you will be fighting against Drones, Harbinger, Assassins, Abominations, Scions, and one giant Human-Reaper larva.
Ideal: Squad members that are loyal to you and are less suited for defensive tasks such as Mordin, Jack, Kasumi, and Tali.
Non-Ideal: Squad members that are not loyal to you. They will die after the battle as the Collector station begins to fall apart.
Note: The teammates you do not pick are automatically assigned to hold the line from the Collectors. A 'defensive skill' value is calculated for the 'hold the line' group as a whole, based on a defensive value inherent to each character. Loyal characters gain a bonus to this value. If the 'defensive skill' check is not high enough to ensure all characters' survival, squad members will be designated to die based on their vulnerability, with Mordin taking priority if he is present. Leaving behind strong defenders, such as Grunt, Garrus, and Zaeed will increase the group's odds of survival. In contrast, certain characters such as Jack, Tali and especially Mordin have less skill in holding their position and should be removed through escort duty or taken along. The entire group will survive as long as the combined defensive skill is high enough, otherwise the game picks a squad member to die based on the scenario of who was left behind and how loyal the group members are. (Squad members who are not loyal are most likely to survive here than anywhere else, provided the group's collective defense skill is high enough, although they will be the first to die if the skill is not.) Leaving behind two strong defenders like Garrus, Grunt, or Zaeed should suffice, provided you haven't lost too many people.
Note: The order squad members die is as follows: any non-loyal squad members, Mordin, Tali, Kasumi, Jack, Miranda, Jacob, Garrus, Samara/Morinth, Legion, Thane, Zaeed, Grunt

Yep because theres no real consquences in the world of mass effect where choices matter as long as you Max pra or ren. What you have a balanced veiw on morals!? well were gonna uponish you.

I HATED mass effect 2. This was one of the main reasons.

If you didn't have enough paragon/renagade to stop Miranda and Jack fighting someone dies. If the other teammates you bring with you aren't loyal there's a possibility one of them will die (this happened to me). If you choose the wrong person someone will die. If you take too long, someone will die.

Even for all the things you can control there's some which just rely on speed and luck. Such as at the end, when even if you've made every choice right, if you aren't fast enough defeating the last boss, sometimes Tali or Mordin will just die, because you took too long, whereas other times the game is kind and you can take half an hour and still all characters survive.

It was, to say the least, a little bit buggy.

I read that Mordin dies unless you send him as the escort...
That's not entirely true, my first game I sent Jacob back and I only lost Legion and Jack for the morality scores. It's got a lot to do with the mystical, magical, ephemeral "last-stand score". Which means it's a crap shoot.

I don't care about the max paragon renegade rewards. So what? People die, and they die unexpectedly due to the choices I make, and it's not fair that I can't foresee the outcome of my actions? That's life... I love it!

I am very Pardagon, My bar was about 50 percent filled, and I couldn't use the option, but for Legion, where the bar was only slightly more so up, I could use it. :/

I'm guessing Garrus was the fire team leader?
You need his loyalty as well (as in both the biotic and fire team leader)

Congratulations!

I like getting people killed on purpose, though .. my favourite save has everyone dead except Morinth and Thane.
That is going to be the most awesome ME3 import, ever.

I don't mean to brag, but first time through I completed the entire thing and no one died. So I would have no expierence in why anyone passed away.

Not true. Don't remember who did what (could dig it out if anyone is actually interested) as I have played it way too many times but no has died for me. I do play the game to completion every time though.

For the sake of roleplay, I say this: It's a suicide mission. You're lucky anyone survived.

But really, do another playthrough. On my first suicide mission, Garrus and Grunt, my favorite characters, died. I was devastated.
