"I've also had limited success with any weapons other than fully automatic assault rifles. It makes me laugh that an M14 - a gun that was made in the 1960's and is still used by the US military to some degree as a very accurate weapon - has more recoil than emptying an entire FAMAS clip into someone - even if you use the grip attachment."
[/quote]

As a Iraq Combat Veteran this bothers me too.

My only real complaints with the game stem from the users. We get it, the game has 4 overpowered guns. Give the other ones a try every now and then. You won't die if you don't win a round or two.

The other is with the map design. Since CoD1, the maps have always had the left path, the right path, and the middle path. Every CoD map has suffered from that formula and it's getting a tad boring.
What are the "4 overpowered guns" you are talking about? I have know of the AK-74U, what about the other 3?
AK74u, Famas, Galil, and MP5k.

When you enter lobbies, check everyones combat profile and check their most used weapon(it will be the first thing to show up in that tab). 9/10 people use only those guns.
True. I'm pretty guilty of using the common weapons too, but you can't really blame players. If the developers give you easy-to-use guns with no real disadvantages compared to other weapons, then I would expect players to use them.

The Galil in particular, I find, is unfalteringly accurate at medium to long range while being able to happily hold its own face-to-face with some banana and his MPL.

Yeah I think that they should do one of three things with the knife:

1. Get rid of it
2. Make it a separate weapon
3. Make it two hits to kill someone with it

As for everything else I dont have a problem with it.
I agree 103% taking out the knife and replacing it with the ability to smack the other player with the end of the gun making it to hits to kill would have been great... or making it strictly a secondary weapon like the ballistic knife.

I played today, and my main issue was the bullshit laser sniping is making a comeback. And sometimes you juts don't get the kills you deserve.

I like number 3. Something like:

Face to Face = 3 hits to kill
To the Side = 2 hits to kill
The BackStab = 1 hit kill

This way people won't jump from cover and run full speed at you when your shooting at them, but you can still have the one-hit-kill backstab.

I've experienced some of these issues, but as someone who is almost level 50, none of these are really game breakers.

Spawns could be better, but with so many people on one map, and with objectives often changing locations, I imagine it would be difficult to make it any better. Fine with the knife, offers choice between using the gun or risking getting shot down by running in. Don't have any issues with the Pro Perks, or Second Chance, etc. etc.

Really, they're all, at worse, minor gripes, and at best, not even really noticeable.

the only problem i found when i played the mp was the fucking claymores. yes i used hacker but since WaW the bomb squadesque perk has diminished. it used to be a huge sign that was like "holy shit clamor/bouncing betty here" but never once did hacker save me a untimely death. Scrambler pro was a much better perk and they should have kept it but rid of the scrambling radar part. that thing actually saved me. it also allowed the placer to turn a round and shoot the person trespassing them.

Nah, all they really need to do to make it balanced is to take out the lunge that it has, and make it so that the arch for the knife swing is only 90 degrees in front of you, instead of 270 degrees (since you can currently knife people who have already run past you). If they do this, getting a hit with the knife from the front will actually start taking skill, since the knife will stop locking on to you, and making you jump 10 feet to your target in order to stab them in the balls.
Agreed, the knife lunge should never have been there in the first place.
Its ridiculous.

However an instant melee kill makes sense seeing as you dont have much health anyway, but instead of a knife a CoD 1/2 style rifle bash or pistol whip would be awesome.

I wish someone making an FPS would nix the knife and replace it with a melee attack that stuns the other player. That, or turn a knife attack almost into a quick-time event for stealth kills and such.

Sir you made my day, but, yes the knife, 1 to back would be right and 2-3 to front/side/top/bottom/whatever.

The spawns are the worst I have ever seen in any game. Once you learn them you can exploit them in certain game modes, look the other way, turn back around and wahey, free kill! Douchey tactic but hey, the same guy will probably spawn right behind you anyway.

I love the maps actually, I think they lend themselves to rushing more than the two previous CODs.

Array and Nuketown are awful though.

The Claymore goes off far too quickly. It's very unfair.

Whoever thought up the toy car idea needs one tactically inserted into his anus, especially at 2 kills with Hardline.

[HEADING=3] The Knife [/HEADING]
If the knife were not in COD, my enjoyment of the game would increase no end. I hate it.

It is so, so annoying when someone knife lunges you through a hail of bullets for an auto-locked, one hit kill to the foot. It makes close range combat completely broken.

If there were one thing I could change in Black Ops, I'd make the melee a 2 hit kill.

[HEADING=3] Second Fucking Chance [/HEADING]
Yet another inclusion that every COD player I know detests, yet it somehow managed to find its way into 4 games. I would love to know their reasoning there.

Basically.....

I can tell that you, like me, play the game a good bit and are a big fan. All of the stuff you mentioned is stuff I agree 100% with and Treyarch needs to fix. And that's without even mentioning the Ghost + RC + Second Chance + dark corner combo that seems so popular.

To those giving out and saying this is whining... it isn't. It's just big fans of the game expressing what could make it even better.

They are certainly the most popular but I find the AK-47 to be more effective than all of them. Not sure why, it just feels better or something.

I really do disagree here. Their preposterous range, explosion speed and radius mean that any Claymore except one that's been placed really badly (like right out in the open, or in a doorway) gets a kill. I know that Hacker helps counter them, but it's not the point. You shouldn't be forced into using a Perk just because a piece of equipment is overpowered and overused.

Stun them? OK, but why should you toss special 'nades about just on the off-chance that you'll hit a concealed Claymore? Bear in mind - if you think an enemy is in a room, you stun them, not their Claymore. If you don't know a guy's in a room, why toss a special grenade?

They're small little bastards too, so they can be concealed by the slightest cover, including the bright light of certain objectives (looking at CTF points here).

Just delay the timer by a teeny tiny amount and shrink the detection radius, making it more directional.

Now, first I need to get something straight here. I enjoy Call of Duty : Black Ops' multiplayer. I like the accessibility, the fluidity, the smooth engine/controls and other things, like how it is an improvement over Modern Warfare 2. I have a nice little ~25 hour or so playtime and growing.
Glad to here it.

[HEADING=3] The Spawns [/HEADING]
Man I hate this system. I know they have supposed to put a check where the game sees if an enemy is near, but it isn't working. Though it isn't an issue I find in maps and game types that put one team on one side near there objective, and the other team on the other.

[HEADING=3] The Maps [/HEADING]
I like most of the maps... except Nuketown.

Though that might be the excessive overuse, or the damage that any air support gives.

[HEADING=3] The Random Explosive Lottery [/HEADING]
I think I have a few disagreements with you on this part.

Random gernade spam is far less effective then it used to be. I ussually run the tomahawk to take care of those trying to knife lunge me (so satisfying).

I have never used an RC-XD that I haven't got from a care package. Even then, I find them awkward to control and the time I used finding a person to kill I could of gotten two by now. It is annoying to be killed by, but the enemy is only cheating themselves and their team of kills.

As for Claymores, I find them less then useless. The motion sensor is MUCH better at holding down an area. Claymore, use once and it can't be replenished. The motion sensor stays alive as long as your alive, and even if it is destroyed, you can always pick it up and magically fix it. I been forced to use them to unlock Hacker Pro, and I found myself desperately missing the ability to know nearby enemies.

Flat Jacket is a great counter to all explosives, so I run it on all of my "over watch" (I.E. LMG's) and "general assualt class" (I.E. AR's)
[HEADING=3] The Knife [/HEADING]
It isn't the one hit kill that annoys me the most, it is that lunge. Take away the lunge and the knife will be far less of a nuisance.
[HEADING=3] The Bastardisation of Varied Combat Roles [/HEADING]
I agree to an extent. I found the WA2000 and the Spas-12 really effective weapons when slienced, able to kill silently and quickly. Other Sniper Rifles are effective on the long areas of the map as long as you can aim, but on smaller maps they are basically useless. Other shotguns I don't even bother with. I never can use the LMG's effectively either, their mid ranged "overwatch" role being completely eclipsed by a FAL set up I use, and I used to tear people to shreds with my RPD.

RIP RPD... you will be greatly missed :'(

I never have used the Ak-74u or many of the fully automatic AR's. I prefer the guns like the Uzi or the Spectre for use from the hip as an objective runner/flanker. The semi-automatic AR's I find to slaughter the opposition if you stay back from the fight a bit.

[HEADING=3] It pretends to allow you to choose the order you unlock stuff, but forces you to stick to the old grind anyway. [/HEADING]
Treyarch said they wanted to include a "Black Market" which would allow the players to buy anything they wanted from the offset, but said that players were overwhelmed with choice. I think Activision made them include the unlock system by the way they talked in the interview, but that is neither here nor there.

[HEADING=3] Second Fucking Chance [/HEADING]
No arguements here. It isn't very effective (I only been killed when I killed the guy with the last bullet, and even then I can knife him before he kills me most of the time) but it has no real purpose for existance.

[HEADING=3] Pro Perks [/HEADING]
I don't hate them, but I see your point. While a few of the Pro effects are better then the base perk (unlimited sprinting vs. double normal distance, being untouchable by air support instead of just being invisible to the radar) but most of them aren't game breaking and one has to really work to unlock them. Since you have to complete 3 challenges instead of one like in MW2, it forces a player to expand out to win them all. Granted pure upgrades I still find annoying, but it isn't as blatant as the last game.

Why do people tell me that they like the maps? I like the maps! Except for Nuketown, that's a disgrace. Small map =/= fun.

But my concerns are that their tightly-packed, overlapping nature is what causes the spawn system to be so horrible, not in the design of the maps themselves.

To be frank, and quite blunt, in no way should you EVER be considering yourself a whiner for writing a list of criticisms of the parts that you feel ruin your gameplay experience.

Your writing is calm and to the point, and show no signs of real frustration.

Do NOT think that of yourself, when it's clearly not the case.
