Now, first I need to get something straight here. I enjoy Call of Duty : Black Ops' multiplayer. I like the accessibility, the fluidity, the smooth engine/controls and other things, like how it is an improvement over Modern Warfare 2. I have a nice little ~25 hour or so playtime and growing.
Glad to here it.
[HEADING=3] The Spawns [/HEADING]
Man I hate this system. I know they have supposed to put a check where the game sees if an enemy is near, but it isn't working. Though it isn't an issue I find in maps and game types that put one team on one side near there objective, and the other team on the other.
[HEADING=3] The Maps [/HEADING]
I like most of the maps... except Nuketown.
Though that might be the excessive overuse, or the damage that any air support gives.
[HEADING=3] The Random Explosive Lottery [/HEADING]
I think I have a few disagreements with you on this part.
Random gernade spam is far less effective then it used to be. I ussually run the tomahawk to take care of those trying to knife lunge me (so satisfying).
I have never used an RC-XD that I haven't got from a care package. Even then, I find them awkward to control and the time I used finding a person to kill I could of gotten two by now. It is annoying to be killed by, but the enemy is only cheating themselves and their team of kills.
As for Claymores, I find them less then useless. The motion sensor is MUCH better at holding down an area. Claymore, use once and it can't be replenished. The motion sensor stays alive as long as your alive, and even if it is destroyed, you can always pick it up and magically fix it. I been forced to use them to unlock Hacker Pro, and I found myself desperately missing the ability to know nearby enemies.
Flat Jacket is a great counter to all explosives, so I run it on all of my "over watch" (I.E. LMG's) and "general assualt class" (I.E. AR's)
[HEADING=3] The Knife [/HEADING]
It isn't the one hit kill that annoys me the most, it is that lunge. Take away the lunge and the knife will be far less of a nuisance.
[HEADING=3] The Bastardisation of Varied Combat Roles [/HEADING]
I agree to an extent. I found the WA2000 and the Spas-12 really effective weapons when slienced, able to kill silently and quickly. Other Sniper Rifles are effective on the long areas of the map as long as you can aim, but on smaller maps they are basically useless. Other shotguns I don't even bother with. I never can use the LMG's effectively either, their mid ranged "overwatch" role being completely eclipsed by a FAL set up I use, and I used to tear people to shreds with my RPD.
RIP RPD... you will be greatly missed :'(
I never have used the Ak-74u or many of the fully automatic AR's. I prefer the guns like the Uzi or the Spectre for use from the hip as an objective runner/flanker. The semi-automatic AR's I find to slaughter the opposition if you stay back from the fight a bit.
[HEADING=3] It pretends to allow you to choose the order you unlock stuff, but forces you to stick to the old grind anyway. [/HEADING]
Treyarch said they wanted to include a "Black Market" which would allow the players to buy anything they wanted from the offset, but said that players were overwhelmed with choice. I think Activision made them include the unlock system by the way they talked in the interview, but that is neither here nor there.
[HEADING=3] Second Fucking Chance [/HEADING]
No arguements here. It isn't very effective (I only been killed when I killed the guy with the last bullet, and even then I can knife him before he kills me most of the time) but it has no real purpose for existance.
[HEADING=3] Pro Perks [/HEADING]
I don't hate them, but I see your point. While a few of the Pro effects are better then the base perk (unlimited sprinting vs. double normal distance, being untouchable by air support instead of just being invisible to the radar) but most of them aren't game breaking and one has to really work to unlock them. Since you have to complete 3 challenges instead of one like in MW2, it forces a player to expand out to win them all. Granted pure upgrades I still find annoying, but it isn't as blatant as the last game.
