I assume you were talking to me there. Absolutely it's a gimmick right now, based on all the available data I can find. Until they debut some truly epic games that can take full advantage of 3D motion (without proprietary hardware), image scanning, voice pattern recognition and anything else the system is capable of, it will stay a gimmick. In my opinion the system looks promising. It's certainly not going to kill the Wii, anyone named Will, or replace controller-based games but it could turn out to be cool proprietary hardware. I certainly won't be buying it the minute it launches, and in reality, probably not until said awesome games come out and the price drops.Bulletinmybrain said:"And then everybody strokes each other!"
On the guy that says that natal is so technologically advanced: Still not going to work, gimmick for you to chew on and toss aside. It is to make it seem like the 360 is the best thing since sliced bread to sell more consoles. Not much else. Plus. Just like touch screens it is just easier to use a keyboard and mice. Same way that is is easier to just use a controller instead of motion control.
A gimmick isn't necessarily a bad thing either. The Wii itself is a gimmick, and it makes more money than a US Mint. It could be completely useless, in which case I won't care. But it could also be pretty cool. Either hailing it as the second coming of Christ or condemning it to the lowest circle of hell already seems a bit premature doesn't it?
